In Pokémon Go, there are several ways to increase the chance of catching Pokémon. The most difficult thing about increasing the catch chance is to hit with the ball in the circle whose size changes around the Pokémon, so as to gain the bonus Good, Great or even Fabulous. We’ll show you a trick that, with a little practice, is guaranteed to catch raid bosses with the Fabulous bonus.

Level 5 raid bosses like Rayquaza have a relatively low chance of being caught in Pokémon Go. Even the combination of Golden Himmih Berry, Curveball, Golden Dragon Medal, and a roll of Good only grants you a chance of just under 50 percent of catching the dragon. Feeding a berry and spinning the Pokéball for a Curveball are not difficult, but getting the bonuses for Good, Great, and Fabulous is a bit more difficult.

You get these bonuses depending on the size of the circle around the Pokémon. As you can see in the catch calculator at .gamepress.gg, your chance of catching level 5 raid bosses increases by 13 percent with a fabulous throw as opposed to a good throw. Assuming you already have practice throwing curveballs, you’ll always hit Pokémon with the fabulous bonus using the following trick:

The goal of the trick is to press down on the Pokéball with your finger and wait for the circle around the Pokémon to become small enough for you to achieve the Fabulous bonus and release the ball (without throwing it). In this way, the small circle will remain active. After that, wait for the Pokémon to attack. While it’s attacking, turn your ball into a curveball and try to make it land right after the Pokémon’s attack animation.

Since the small Fabulous circle is still active, this will give you the increased catch bonus. You’ll also need to hit inside the circle, of course; but what’s especially difficult with small Pokémon like Hornliu or Rattfratz is much easier with raid bosses like Rayquaza, since the raid bosses’ catch circles are much larger and you have a bit more leeway for the smallest circle. Below you can find a picture and a video, in which the catch trick is described once again. Here again step by step:

1. lift the Pokéball slightly and keep your finger on the Pokéball until it is so small that the Fabulous bonus becomes active.

2. gently release the Pokéball without throwing it and wait for the Pokémon to attack.

3. as soon as the Pokémon does its attack animation, turn your ball into a curveball and let it land right after the battle animation.

Sometimes the Pokémon may attack twice in a row. In this case, you are just unlucky and have to try again.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
