PoGO – Pokémon GO: Smoke day with squeak – Is the event worth it?

December 05, 2021, Pokémon GO is hosting Smoke Day with Squeak. But is the event worth it for ambitious trainers? We tell you which Mon you should not miss – and what you can safely leave on the left.

The time has come: The – Season of Origin in Pokémon GO replaces the – Season of Mischief – and today the first event of the new – Season takes place in the game, Smoke Day with Squeak. On December 05, 2021, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time, you’ll be able to attract not only the ice/soil Pokémon Squeak with smoke, but also various other ice and soil type Pokémon. So that you know exactly how to best use your hard-earned smoke and Pokéballs, we now explain which Pokémon you should definitely catch.

What’s Mamutel with Antique Power good for?

During the event, when you evolve the Pokémon Squeak into Keifel and then into Mamutel, Mamutel learns the ability Antique Power. Mamutel is basically one of the best attack Pokémon for in Pokémon GO. For that reason alone, it’s worth looking for a strong squeak that you can then evolve.

Currently, the best moveset for Mamutel is Powder Snow (Quick Attack) paired with Avalanche (Charge Attack). Powder Snow scores with very good energy generation, while Avalanche does a lot of damage and costs relatively little energy. Anti-force would therefore replace Avalanche as a charging attack. Unfortunately, Ancient Power has two problems: it deals the least damage of all the charge attacks Mamutel can learn. Also, you don’t benefit from Mamutel’s STAB damage with this attack.

So, the bottom line is that Mamutel with Antique Power isn’t really worth it. However, you should still take advantage of the opportunity and catch a lot of squeaks – maybe you’ll get a Shiny? You also have the chance to get a really strong squeak, which you can then develop into Mamutel after the event. Keep in mind, though, that you’ll need a Sinnoh Stone as well as candies to de-evolve Keifel into Mamutel.

What other Pokémon in the event are worth getting?

In addition to Squeak, there are three other Pokémon in particular that appear during Smoke Day that you won’t want to miss. Larvitar can be evolved into Despotar, one of the best raid attackers in Pokémon GO with a focus on rock or unlight attacks. The best movesets for Despotar in raids are currently Catapult and Return, Catapult and Stone Edge, or Catapult and Crusher.

You should also catch the ice/unlight Pokémon Sniebel. Its Snibunna is one of the best ice attackers in the game. It is best to combine the attacks Firebrand and Avalanche, Firebrand and Parasite, or Feint and Avalanche. Last but not least, grab Galar Lampion and evolve it into Galar Lampivian. This Ice Pokémon is also excellent in Raids. Here you can use the attacks Ice Fang and Avalanche, Tackle and Avalanche or Ice Fang and Ice Slash.

We wish you good luck at Smoke Day and keep your fingers crossed that you can grab some strong Mon and a Shiny or two!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
