PoGO – Pokémon GO: PvP Guide – Rock the Super League with these Pokémon!

The Pokémon GO Super League offers PvP newcomers the opportunity to earn their first spurs in battle against other players. But even experienced PvP fans can have a lot of fun in the league with the right team. We tell you which Pokémon are best suited for the Super League in the current Pokémon GO meta.

Pokémon GO has offered the possibility of PvP battles against other players for quite a while now. If you want to be successful here, you have to rely on the right team of Pokémon, just like in PvE. Because the Pokémon GO meta is constantly in flux due to the regular release of new Pokémon, the potential composition of your teams also changes regularly.

Based on an article from Pokemongohub, we’ve put together an overview of the current best Pokémon for the Super League, sorted by the categories “Opener” (opens the battle), “Finalist” (strong at the end of the battle, with depleted shields), “Attacker” and “Defender”.

Lead – The best Pokémon to start the battle with

When you open battle, it’s best to send a Pokémon into battle that will put your opponent under a lot of pressure right from the start. These powerful Pokémon are best suited for this:

  • Panzaeron (Type Steel/Flight) is particularly suitable against Pokémon of the Plant Type and scores with various resistances as well as an excellent moveset (Sky Sweeper!).
  • Deoxys (type Psycho) in the defense form scores especially with a diverse moveset and the strong attack Counter. However, you have to be careful of Spirit Pokémon when using Deoxys.
  • Altaria (Dragon/Flight type) dominates the Super League with its good stats and outstanding damage (Fire Doom!). The dual type Dragon/Flight also combines various handy resistances.

Finalist – The Best Pokémon for the Later Battle Stage

If you’ve already used up your shields later in the battle and need Pokémon that will still give your opponents a run for their money without shields, you’re best off relying on these selections:

  • Azumarill (Water/Fairy type) convinces with its excellent defense values and survives the one or other charge attack even without a shield. Its own attacks counter various Pokémon types (especially Plant Pokémon are quickly left in the dust against Azumarill).
  • Bisaflor (Plant/Poison type) is one of the best Plant Pokémon in the Super League because it not only has very good defense, but also strong and dangerous attacks (Vine Slash and Flora Statue).
  • Nachtara (Unlight type) is best for delaying the battle so you can change Pokémon. The Refuge attack makes it an excellent counter against Panzaeron, Deoxys, and Altaria.
  • Lucario (Steel Type) scores high with attacks like Counter and Increment Strike, making it one of the best finishing Pokémon in the Super League despite its weakness against Ground Pokémon.
  • ALoLa Knogga (Spirit/Fire type) quickly takes down Beetle, Battle, and Steel type opponents and has attacks that deal good neutral damage with Fire Whirl and Spook Ball.

Attackers – The best Pokémon for lots of damage

Attackers are supposed to do one thing in Super League: damage if your opponent still has shields. The following Pokémon are best suited for this:

  • Bollterus (Rock/Steel type) outperforms virtually all other Pokémon in the Super League when it comes to dealing damage while also lasting long enough without shields to deal some serious damage.
  • Meditalis (Fighting/Psycho type) is great for countering other strong Pokémon in the Super League, such as Bollterus and Lucario. Because it improves its own stats with each execution of Incremental Strike, it becomes a nasty attacker that can properly annoy your opponents and easily lead your team to victory.
  • Sumpex (Water/Ground type) deals a lot of damage quickly with Aqua Howitzer against various popular Super League Pokémon. The catch is that it is doubly sensitive to plant attacks, so use Sumpex wisely.

Defenders – The best Pokémon with strong defense

If attack is the best defense, you can’t avoid a few strong defensive breakers in Super League. If you still have your shields, but your opponent has already used up theirs, it’s best to go for one of the following Pokémon:

  • Lanturn (Water/Electric type) takes a while to charge up its Hydropump charge attack, but it already does decent damage against various Pokémon with its normal attack, Aqua Claw. Lanturn proves to be a useful support in Super League because of its effectiveness against Fire, Ground, and Rock types.
  • Forstellka (Beetle/Steel Type) effectively counters the popular Super League Pokémon Deoxys (Defensive Form) and Bisaflor with Beetle Bite. Combine Forstellka with a powerful Water Pokémon like Azumarill to be ready against Fire Pokémon.
  • Muntier (Normal type) uses counterattacks to no end, ramming popular Super League Pokémon like Bollterus into the ground. Use the charge attack Bodyslam to end the fight faster than your opponent can say “overpowered”.
  • Registeel (Steel type) scores mighty damage against almost all Pokémon in Super League. However, beware of Ground and Battle Pokémon and supplement your team with a powerful Flying Pokémon.

We hope this overview of the best Super League Pokémon will give you some ideas on how to build your team and maximize your chances of winning. Of course, you don’t know in advance which Pokémon your opponent will use. However, if you combine your Pokémon skillfully and cover your weak points with additional Pokémon, you should be well prepared for a successful Super League tour. In any case, we wish you every success!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
