In Pokémon Go, the legendary water and dragon Pokémon Palkia from the 4th generation can appear in Tier 5 Raids. With which Pokémon you fight the Dimensions Pokémon best in the arena and what you should pay attention to, you can learn in our Palkia .

Update from July 26, 2020: During the Pokémon Go Fest 2020, Palkia makes an appearance in the Raids once again and can be defeated primarily with the following counters, because even though dragons have a weakness against dragons, they are your strongest attackers!

  • Rayquaza with Dragon Rod and Rage Attack
  • Palkia with Dragon Rod and Draco Meteor
  • Brutalanda with Dragon Rod and Rage Attack
  • Zekrom with fire breath and rage attack
  • Dialga with fire breath and Draco meteor
  • Dragoran with dragon rod and rage attack
  • Knakrack with dragon rod and rage attack

Original news on January 29, 2019: In Pokémon Go, legendary pocket monsters usually make their appearance in Tier 5 arenas, which can be successfully completed by the majority of trainers exclusively in groups. So if you want to catch a legendary Pokémon, you have to face them in battle first. The legendary Gen-4 Pokémon Palkia can be caught for the first time since the release of Pokémon Go from 10 p.m. on January 29, and to ensure that you at least have a chance to catch the pocket monster, we have and hints for you below.

Palkia’s health in the arena is 54,793 WP, and the strongest counter Pokémon are Dragon-types like Rayquaza, another Palkia, Dragoran, and Brutalanda. Palkia is a Dragon and Water type Pokémon, and has corresponding weaknesses to Dragon and Fairy type attacks. Palkia is boosted to level 25 in windy and rainy weather. If Palkia is not boosted by weather, it has WP between 2,190 and 2,280 at level 20 if you can capture it. On the other hand, if Palkia is enhanced by wind or rain, then it has WP between 2,737 and 2,850 at level 25.

Consider the following: Palkia is more susceptible to certain attacks when the weather is windy or cloudy. If you attack the Mon in windy weather, Palkia will be boosted to level 25 when caught, and your dragon attackers will be stronger beforehand in the confrontation. However, Palkia’s potential attacks of Fire Oath, Dragon Rod, and Draco Meteor are also boosted in windy conditions. If you attack in cloudy weather, your fairy attacks will be strengthened. And in rainy weather, Palkia is boosted to level 25 when you catch her, though when you fight beforehand, Palkia’s potential attack “Hydropump” is also boosted.

To defeat Palkia with less than three high-level trainers, you’ll have to be extremely lucky. In theory, if the weather is windy and you have a Best Friends bonus, Palkia can be mastered by a duo of level 40 Rayquaza and Dragoran. However, you’d better play it safe: 3 to 5 high-level trainers can tackle Palkia in battle, if you’re more low-level, then you should look for 6 to 20 trainers.

Palkia in Pokémon Go – best counters

As mentioned earlier, other Dragon Pokémon are especially suitable to face Palkia in battle. The most superior attacker is

  • Rayquaza with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack” – due to the attribute changes at the end of 2018, Rayquaza was blessed with more defense and health points. In addition, Rayquaza simply deals an outrageous amount of damage.

Also very strong counters against Palkia are:

  • Dragoran with “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack”.
  • Palkia with “Dragon Rod” and “Draco Meteor” – Palkia can be even stronger than Rayquaza with the attacks, but only under the premise that the Palkia you are fighting does not have Draco Meteor. Then your own Palkia stinks extremely.
  • Brutalanda with Dragon Rod and Draco Meteor – Brutalanda has low defense, but it’s still a good choice.
  • Latios with “Fire Ember” and “Dragon Claw”.

Should you need to restock your teams then, you could reach for the following Pokémon:

  • Latias with “Fire Ember” and “Tantrum”.
  • Guardevoir with “Confusion” and “Spell Glow
  • ALoLa Kokowei with “Dragon Rod” and “Dragon Pulse
  • Garados with “Fire Ember” and “Tantrum
  • Groudon with “Dragon Rod” and “Solar Beam
  • Mewtu with “Confusion” and “Haunted Ball
  • Libelldra with “Dragon Rod” and “Dragon Claw
  • Seedraking with “Fire Emotion” and “Rage Attack
  • Giratina with “Fire Ember” and “Dragon Claw
  • Togekiss with “Air Cut” and “Spell Glow

If you can banish Palkia to your Pokéball, it can have the instant attacks Dragon Rod or Fire Ember, as well as the charge attacks Draco Meteor, Firestorm, or Hydro Pump. Palkia will probably do quite well as an attacker if you need a Dragon or Water attacker, respectively.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
