PoGO – Pokémon GO: New Year's Sale in PoGo - are Special Box, Super Box, Hyperbox worth it?
THOSE: BUFFED

The developers of Pokémon Go have added new content to the Special Box, Super Box, and Hyperbox, which should appeal to those of you who plan on logging a lot of miles for your eggs in Pokémon Go. Hand in hand with the Adventure Sync Hatching Marathon and the upcoming Karnimani Community Day, these boxed sale offerings will provide you with the best possible care.

Pokémon Go developers Niantic have once again packed new content into the popular Special Box, Super Box, and Hyperbox purchase offers in the New Year’s Sale, and at both first and second glance, the deals are especially worthwhile for those of you who want to lace your shoes to your feet and hatch your eggs in Pokémon Go. That’s because along with the new content for the three boxes comes a new that kicked off just in time for the end of the Christmas event: the Adventure Sync Hatching Marathon.

This brings hatching bonuses in the form of double amounts of candies and stardust – per hatched egg – until 10 p.m. on December 15, 2019. In addition, you’ll receive a 5K or 10K egg with a higher probability when you spin a photo disc at an arena or PokéStop. But that’s just the beginning, because….!

Because on December 12, 2019, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Community Day with Karnimani will take place – and in that time frame, you’ll only need to travel a quarter of the usual distance to hatch your eggs. So you can guess what’s in Special Box, Superbox and Hyperbox, right? Here’s the overview:

Box Special BoxSuper BoxHyperbox
Price480 Pokécoins780 Pokécoins1,480 Pokécoins
Contents3 x Egg Incubator (+1)5 x Super Incubator (+1)10 x Super Incubator (-2)
2 x Lucky Egg (+2)3 x Lucky Egg (+3)6 x Egg Incubator (+6)
2 x Premium Raid Pass (-1)3 x Premium Raid Pass (-2)8 x Premium Raid Pass (-4)
3 x Star Piece (+3)8 x Lock Modules (+8)

The general outlook on the box weather: the boxes are okay, but not outstanding. Of course, the special box is again mainly for the among you or for those who don’t want to spend more money, even if the setup looks a bit meager with just three items.

Those who have more Pokécoins at their disposal, however, should look at another box. And by that, neither we nor the Pokémon Go Hub writers mean the Super Box, because it once again falls short given the nature and quality of its contents. The Star Pieces may be appealing, but there are simply too few of Super Brooders like Raid Passes included.

That’s why the hyperbox is worth it, even if it inexplicably includes both super and regular egg spawners at first glance. However, due to the fact that on Community Day you only need a quarter of the run to hatch, and given the fact that, as mentioned, you’ll be pulling 5k and 10k eggs out of arenas and stops with an increased chance until January 15, the offer literally fits like a glove. It would have been better if the creators of Pokémon Go had included smoke instead of lure modules in the box.

In general, the offers are mainly worthwhile for those who want to use the hatching event to tear off decent distance and for those who hope to still get hold of one or the other baby Pokémon of Gen 4. Also, if you’re interested in Raids in general, Special and Hyperbox are worthwhile to stock up on passes. If you are only interested in Raid Passes, then this sale is not for you.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
