Update from January 4, 2021: Mega Turtok has been sent back into the Mega Raids by the developers of Pokémon Go after a break. Still, we’ve updated our counter guide for Mega Turtok for you, because believe it or not, Mega Turtok is a pretty powerful Pokémon in Raid battles as a Water counter. So you’ll want to at least unlock the Mega for Turtok.

Original news from September 3, 2020: Things are heating up in the newly introduced Mega Raids in Pokémon Go. Because this new difficulty level is comparable to the challenges that await you on Tier 5 – only they also earn you Mega Energies for the Mega Evolution of the corresponding pocket monster. So if you want to use Mega Turtok in battles against friends or against raid bosses, you’ll have to defeat it a few times in a Mega Raid. To help you do that, we’ll provide you with the Mega Turtok counter guide here. By the way, we also have such guides with for Mega-Bisaflor as well as Mega-Glurak X and Mega-Glurak Y. One thing in advance: If you have defeated Mega-Turtok as a raid boss, then you will not catch Mega-Turtok itself in the subsequent bonus challenge, but an untransformed Turtok.

Pokémon Go: Mega Turtok as Raid Boss

Mega-Turtok’s type is water, and that’s why it’s vulnerable to attacks of the Plant and Electric variety. In order for you to defeat Mega-Turtok, you’ll need to knock down a whopping 54,243 CP, and while that’s doable with two very skilled trainers, you’ll need to be able to defeat it. But since Mega Turtok is the toughest of the three currently available Mega Raid bosses, it’s better to go into battle with four to six players. It’s handy if you’ve already faced a few Mega Bisaflor and therefore have enough energy to transform the plant Pokémon into its Mega form. Other than that, it’s best to grab Electric and Plant Attackers to defeat Mega Turtok.

The battle will be difficult for your Plant Pokémon if Mega-Turtok has the Ice Charge Attack Ice Beam, as the ability will instantly knock your Pocket Monsters’ socks off. By the way, an interesting indicator of which charge attack Mega-Turtok has is the lobby of the Raid battle. If you are offered only Electric Pokémon, then it’s as certain as pie that Mega Turtok has Ice Beam. On the other hand, if Mega Turtok has the Hydropump charge attack, be careful with Electro Mon, because they will suffer the same fate as your Plant Mon with Ice Beam. The following counters are generally recommended against Mega Turtok:

  • Mega Bisaflor with Tendril Strike and Flora Statue
  • Zekrom with Charge Beam and Surge
  • Raikou with Thunder Shock and Surge
  • Zapdos with Thunder Shock and Thunder Bolt
  • Roserade with razorblade and stumbler
  • Luxtra with spark jump and surge
  • Gewaldro with Wrath Blade and Flora Statue
  • Mewtu with Psycho Blade and Thunder Bolt
  • Tangoloss with tendril strike and leaf scourge
  • Magnezone with Spark Leap and Surge
  • Elevoltek with Thunder Shock and Surge
  • Bisaflor with tendril strike and flora statue

Pokémon Go: Catch Mega Turtok

As already mentioned, you will not catch Mega Turtok after a victory, but a normal Turtok. If you have successfully completed the battle against Mega Turtok, the freestyle follows after the duty and you have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball. Then Turtok has 1,409 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Turtok is boosted to level 25 in rainy or sunny weather, it will have 1,761 CP at perfect 100% IV values. We wish you good luck in your hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
