PoGO – Pokémon Go: Mega Garados as Raid Boss – Counter Guide

Starting February 9, 2021, there will be a new Mega Pokémon in Pokémon Go, namely Mega Garados. Before you can trigger Mega Evolution, however, you must have defeated Mega Garados at least once in the Raid and also collected enough Mega Energy. To help you do that, we have a counter guide to Mega Garados in Pokémon Go.

A new Mega Pokémon is coming to the Pokémon Go Raids, and it’s Mega Garados. Starting on February 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., the giant water snake will enter the Raids and can be fought from then on at least until February 20, 2021. To unlock Mega Garados as an evolution for your account, you will need to defeat the Pokémon multiple times in the Raid. Once to get access to the Mega Evolution in the place, and then a few more times to get enough Mega Energy to evolve – remember, the first Mega Evolution of a Mon is plenty expensive, and all subsequent ones are cheaper. To help you unlock Mega Evolution for Garados, we have an up-to-date counter guide for you. Show your pocket monsters who is the master in the house and over the Mega Evo! By the way, we have omitted Crypto Pokémon, which are expensive to level, from our list of counters.

Pokémon Go: Mega-Garados as raid boss

Mega-Garados changes types in comparison. While Garados is a Water and Flight type Pokémon, Mega-Garados is a Water and Unlight type Pokémon. This means that compared to the fight against Garados, you should also resort to plant counters. This is because they are strong against water, and Mega-Garados doesn’t use flying attacks that could be dangerous to fighters like Bisaflor and co. You’re also exceptionally well advised to use Battle and Electric Pokémon in battle to beat down Mega-Garados’ 60,860 WP.

As with other Mega Pokémon, you should take the fight with four to five other players. Because of the raid boss’s types, you’ll want to attack with Electro-Mon primarily when it’s raining – but keep in mind that Mega-Garados’s potential water attacks will also be boosted. In fog, on the other hand, the raid boss will hit harder with his unlight attacks. If the sun is shining, choose your plant counter; if it’s cloudy, use the battle mon. Below is a list of the strongest counters for Mega Garados.

  • Mega Bisaflor with tendril blow and flora statue
  • Zekrom with charge beam and surge
  • Lucario with counter and aura sphere
  • Meistagrif with counter and blast
  • Kapilz with counter and balancing blow
  • Machomei with karate chop and balancing blow
  • Raikou with Thunder Shock and Surge
  • Mega-Ampharos with volt change and lightning cannon
  • Magnezone with spark jump and power surge
  • Elevoltek with thunder shock and surge
  • Gewaldro with wrath blade and flora statue
  • Roserade with razor blade and pestler

Pokémon Go: Catch Mega Garados

As already known, after defeating a Mega Pokémon, you will not catch Mega Garados, but a normal Garados. If you have successfully completed the battle against Mega Garados, the freestyle follows after the duty and you have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball. Then Garados has 1,937 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Garados is boosted to level 25 in rain or fog, then it has 2,422 CP at perfect 100% IV values. We wish you good luck in the hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
