PoGO – Pokémon Go: Mega Ampharos in January – Counter Guide

The makers of Pokémon Go didn’t actually want to reveal which Mon will get its Mega Evolution in January 2021 and enter the Mega Raids. However, they accidentally slipped that the announcement of the Mega Mon is Mega Ampharos, which will be available from January 19, 2021. We already have a counter to Mega Ampharos in Pokémon Go for you.

Shortly before the turn of 2020, the developers of Pokémon Go announced that a new Mega Pokémon will be available in the game from January 19, 2021. They did not reveal which one it would be. Now, however, something seems to have slipped out to the people from Niantic. In the Chinese client, a message talks about Mega Ampharos (via Reddit). And also the hint in the English announcement of the Mega Mon already gave a deep look. “More details will come to light as we get closer to the date” also speaks for Ampharos, because it is also called the light or light Pokémon. A really official confirmation is still pending. Until then, we’ll give you the counter-guide for Mega Ampharos, because it’s going to enter the Mega Raids at some point (if not now) anyway. This, in turn, means that you’ll need to defeat Mega Ampharos first in order to unlock its Mega evolution as a Pokémon Go trainer.

Pokémon Go: Mega Ampharos as a raid boss

Unlike Ampharos, Mega Ampharos is not only an Electro-type Pokémon, but also a Dragon-type Pokémon. Accordingly, you will naturally come at him particularly well with other dragon fighters. Mega-Ampharos has 55,876 WP and should therefore be tackled by at least three trainers. There is another reason why you should use Dragon counters, because Mega-Ampharos does not have any Dragon attacks, but uses Electric skills like Volt Change, Charge Beam and Thunder. Or the rock attack Jewel Power or the psycho attack Focus Blast. Since dragons are resistant to electric attacks, you’ll naturally use dragons; the current weather conditions won’t change that. So you’ll want to reach for the following dragons:

  • Knakrack with dragon rod and rage attack
  • Zekrom with fire breath and rage attack
  • Maxax with dragon rod and dragon claw
  • Rayquaza with dragon rod and rage attack
  • Brutalanda with dragon rod and rage attack
  • Palkia with dragon rod and Draco meteor
  • Dragoran with dragon rod and rage attack
  • Dialga with fire breath and Draco meteor
  • Latios with fire breath and dragon claw
  • Reshiram with fire breath and Draco meteor
  • Groudon with Dragon Rod and Earthquake
  • Mega-Glurak X with fire breath and dragon claw

Pokémon Go: Catch Mega Ampharos

As already known, after a victory you will not catch Mega Ampharos, but a normal Ampharos. If you have successfully completed the battle against Mega Ampharos, the freestyle follows after the duty and you have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball. Then Ampharos has 1,630 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Ampharos is boosted to level 25 in rainy or windy weather, it will have 2,037 CP at perfect 100% IV levels. We wish you good luck in the hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
