PoGO – Pokémon GO: Lunar New Year Sale in PoGo - are Special Box, Superbox, Hyperbox worth it?
THOSE: BUFFED

With the start of the Lunar New Year , Pokémon Go is offering new content for the Special Box, Super Box and Hyperbox. The current content is especially worthwhile for raiders and those among the trainers who want to grind with the event a lot of experience points – because without exception, all boxes make you happy with lucky eggs. We’ll tell you which boxes are worthwhile.

A new event in Pokémon Go almost always brings with it a new box sale – or actually not a sale, but simply new content for the Special Box, Super Box and Hyperbox. Most of the time, the content is tailored to the corresponding event, and this is also the case with the Lunar New Year event: Without exception, all boxes contain Premium Raid Passes and Lucky Eggs.

So you already know where the journey is headed. The current filling of the boxes is especially interesting for raiders – and for trainers in Pokémon Go, who want to use the Lunar New Year event to really grind a lot of experience points. But first, as usual, here’s an overview of the contents of the Special Box, Super Box, and Hyperbox. As usual, we have indicated the changes to the contents in the brackets behind compared to the previous event.

2 x Premium Raid Pass (-1)5 x Premium Raid Pass (+0)12 x Premium Raid Pass (+4)
3 x Smoke (+3)8 x Lucky Egg (+8)

In view of the glut of lucky eggs, it’s already clear where the journey is headed. The Lunar New Year event gives you double the amount of experience points when you catch or evolve a Pokémon until February 13 at 9:59 pm. With the lucky eggs you double the amount of experience points again. So for those of you looking to grind experience, this can be quite worthwhile – especially if you’re still saving up upcoming evolutions until you can fill the duration of one or more Lucky Eggs with them.

As usual, the special box is a solid offering for the starters among you who don’t want to shell out extra cash for Poké Coins. If you are then inclined towards one of the two larger boxes, you should honestly reach for the Hyperbox instead of the Superbox. Of course, the savings on the Superbox are already greater when you look at the individual prices for Super Spawners and Premium Raid Passes.

But the Hyperbox’s equipment also makes more sense with a whole eight star pieces that you can use to expand your stardust supplies. The three rather paltry smoke of the Superbox can’t keep up with that. If you can’t afford the Hyperbox, consider waiting for the next sale (probably around February 14, for the now confirmed Valentine’s Day event) instead of investing your coins in the Superbox.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
