Before that, however, you have to defeat Latios in the Raid – and we have the latest counter guide for you!

Update from February 8, 2021: Curtain up, spotlight on, the Aeon duo is back in the Pokémon Go Raids. In addition to Latias, Latios will also appear in the Tier 5 Raids starting at 10:00 am on February 9, 2021, and will remain there until February 20, 2021. To make sure that you can catch Latios as a Shiny if you’re lucky, it’s worth taking a look at our polished, current counter recommendation. We wish you good luck with your hunt.

Original news from April 16, 2019: After Latias has already made the Tier 5 Raids unsafe in Pokémon Go this year, it’s now buddy Latios’ turn to be given his own Raid event. Between April 15, 2019, starting at 10 p.m. until April 22 at 10 p.m., Latios will be able to appear in Pokémon Go’s Raids as an alternative to the current Tier 5 Raid boss, Giratina (Original Form). There’s a special incentive for the Shiny hunters among you, because if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to banish Latios in its iridescent version to your Pokéball after a successful Raid battle.

Since you only have one week, you should be on the road with a good so that you don’t miss any opportunity to capture Latios – and with a lot of luck also in its iridescent form. Shiny Latios can be recognized by the fact that it is green instead of blue. Although Latios is a Dragon and Psycho type Pokémon, you’ll want to rely primarily on other dragons, such as Rayquaza, Brutalanda, Dragoran, Palkia, and Dialga, to fight the raid boss. Below we have the interesting information for you in the counter guide.

Pokémon Go: Latios as a raid boss

As a raid boss, Latios has around 52,220 HP and is thus quite a hunk. As mentioned, Latios belongs to the type Dragon and Psycho. If you want to defeat Latios safely, you should at least be with a group of five to six trainers. In and of itself, Latios’ weaknesses can be exploited well if…. yes, if Latios doesn’t attack with the Dragon Claw charging attacks, because that should make your dragon attackers bite the dust pretty quickly. And if it fights with Solar Beam, you’d better not look to Despotar or other Unlight Pocket Monsters as attackers.

As a Dragon and Psycho Pokémon, Latios is boosted in windy weather. As with Latias, this is a problem because not only do your Dragon attacks do more damage in windy weather, but so do Latios’ Dragon attacks Fire Ember and Dragon Claw. And Latios’ possible Psycho attacks “Zen Headbutt” and “Psycho” are also strengthened by windy weather. The charge attack Solar Beam, on the other hand, is boosted in sunny weather. If you attack Latios in cloudy weather, Fairy attacks will be boosted, in snowy weather Ice attacks, in rainy weather Beetle attacks. Basically, Latios takes more damage from unlight, dragon, fairy, ghost, beetle, and ice attacks. Honestly, though, you want to knock Latios down as quickly as possible with your Dragon counters – true to the motto “close your eyes and get through it.”

For the fight against Latios as a raid boss in Pokémon Go, we recommend the following outstanding attackers:

  1. Dialga with the attacks “Fire Odo” and “Draco Meteor” (better than before)
  2. Rayquaza with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack
  3. Brutalanda with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Draco Meteor
  4. Knakrack with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack” (new)
  5. Dragoran with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack
  6. Giratina (original form) with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Spook Ball” (better than before)

You can add more Counter Pokémon to your team if you need to restock.

  1. Skelabra with “Burden” and “Haunted Ball” (new)
  2. Palkia with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Draco Meteor” (worse than before)
  3. Latios with the attacks “Fire Ember” and “Dragon Claw
  4. Darkrai with the attacks “Telltale” and “Haunted Ball” (new)
  5. Trikephalo with the attacks “Fire Ember” and “Sinister Aura” (new)
  6. Snibunna with the attacks “Feint” and “Avalanche” (better than before)
  7. Latias with the attacks “Fire Emotion” and “Rage Attack” (better than before)
  8. Mewto with the attacks “Psycho Blade” and “Haunted Ball”.

Furthermore you can use the following attackers.

  • Kramchef with the attacks “Telltale” and “Sinister Aura
  • Mamutel with the attacks “Powder Snow” and “Avalanche
  • Latias with the attacks “Fire Odo” and “Tantrum
  • ALoLa Kokowei with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Dragon Pulse
  • Dogemon with “Telltale” and “Parasite” attacks

Pokémon Go: Catch Latios

As mentioned earlier, Latios is boosted by windy weather in Pokémon Go as a Dragon and Psycho type pocket monster, and then has up to 2,723 WP (100 percent IV) when caught at level 25. If you do not catch Latios in windy weather, it will have up to 2,178 WP (100 percent IV) at level 20. We wish you good luck in the battle and in the catching!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
