PoGO – Pokémon GO: Latias as raid boss – current counter guide

Latias is back in the Tier 5 Raids after a year’s hiatus, and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to banish him to the Pokéball as a Shiny – but you’ll need to defeat Latias as a Raid boss. We have the latest counter guide to Latias in Pokémon Go for you!

Update, February 8, 2021: In celebration of the Lunar New Year in Pokémon Go, Latias is returning to Tier 5 Raids with his buddy Latios. The two have taken their time, last appearing there in January 2020. Latios and Latias are still very decent counters for certain PvE challenges in Pokémon Go. And even if you don’t want Latias for Raid counters, you may still want to secure a shiny specimen. After all, the chance to get a shiny one comes after defeating the boss. We currently recommend the following counters for your fight against Latias. By the way: Are you looking for Latias with a perfect 100% IV value? Then it has 2,006 WP at level 20. If Latias is boosted to level 25 in windy weather, it will have 2,507 HP at best.

  • Mega Gengar with dark claw and spook ball
  • Mega-Hundemon with tirade and parasite
  • Rayquaza with dragon rod and tantrum
  • Palkia with Dragon Rod and Draco Meteor
  • Brutalanda with dragon rod and rage attack
  • Zekrom with fire breath and rage attack
  • Dialga with fire breath and Draco meteor
  • Knakrack with dragon rod and rage attack
  • Reshiram with fire breath and Draco meteor
  • Maxax with dragon rod and dragon claw
  • Dragoran with dragon rod and Draco meteor
  • Darkrai with tirade and dark aura

Original news from February 21, 2019: Once again, not just one event on the weekend is enough for the creators of Pokémon Go, no, a second one has to be added right away. On February 23, 2019, the Limited Research with the Gen 3 Pokémon Perlu will already take place. Meanwhile, the developers at Niantic announce that a special Raid event will also take place, bringing Latias back to the Tier 5 arenas from February 22 at 10 p.m. to February 25 at 10 p.m.. And with a little luck, you’ll be able to get your hands on Latias in his dazzling form. So pack up those Raid Passes and strap on those boots so you can add Latias to your collection if you haven’t already.

Of course, for this particular Raid challenge in Pokémon Go, we’ll give you a quick rundown of the counters you can use to face Latias. Latias is a legendary Dragon and Psycho Pokémon. If you catch it without a boost, Latias has 1,921 to 2,006 HP at level 20. When boosted at level 25, Latias has 2,402 to 2,507 WP – 2,507 WP then represents a perfect 100% IV if you can catch it. You should tackle Latias, with its 48,080 Raidboss WP, with three to five players with high-level Mon – or at least find seven other trainers willing to fight with you. We caution: The fight is not easy.

Latias gets boosted by windy weather and then reaches level 25, which is a problem because not only are attacks from your battle team’s dragon attacks boosted at that point, but so are Latias’ attacks “Fire Ember” and “Rage Attack.” Not only that, but the Psycho attacks Zen Headbutt and Psycho are also boosted in windy weather – that’s four of the five attacks Latias has at his disposal as a raid boss. So be prepared for increased consumption of Invigorators, because if you use Dragon Pokémon for battle, Latias will send them packing with a Charge Attack at the latest.

If you attack Latias in cloudy weather, Fairy attacks will be boosted, Ice attacks in snowy weather, and Beetle attacks in rainy weather. Even then you should be careful, because Latias’ fifth possible attack, Thunder, will be boosted. If the weather is foggy, then your Mon’s Unlight and Spirit attacks will be strengthened. The following pocket monsters are among the strongest attackers for a raid against Latias. As mentioned earlier, keep in mind that while Dragon attackers are very good at dealing, Latias will also give them a run for their money.

  1. Knakrack with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack” (new)
  2. Palkia with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Draco Meteor” (better than before)
  3. Dialga with the attacks “Fire Ember” and “Draco Meteor” (new)
  4. Rayquaza with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack
  5. Dragoran with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Rage Attack
  6. Darkrai with the attacks “Telltale” and “Haunted Ball” (new)
  7. Giratina (Original Form) with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Haunted Ball” (new)
  8. Brutalanda with the attacks “Dragon Rod” and “Fury Attack
  9. Latios with the attacks “Fire Ember” and “Dragon Claw
  10. Snibunna with the attacks “Telltale” and “Avalanche
  11. Skelabra with the attacks “Burden” and “Haunted Ball” (new)
  12. Mamutel with the attacks “Powder Snow” and “Avalanche
  13. Despotar with the attacks “Bite” and “Crunch
  14. Trikephalo with the attacks “Fire Ember” and “Dark Aura” (new)
  15. Guardevoir with the attacks “Charm” and “Magic Glow” (new)

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
