PoGO – Pokémon Go: Johto Celebration Event with Limited Research – Info in Guide

The developers of Pokémon Go have come out with the information about the upcoming Johto event. While you will once again encounter the legendary beasts Entei, Raikou and Suicune in the Tier 5 Raids, those who want to expand their pocket monster army with Despotar will be especially happy. Because you should encounter Larvitar quite often during the event. In addition, there’s a collector challenge and surprisingly a limited research, the Johto celebration. We have all the information about steps and rewards in the guide.

Original news on January 20, 2021: It won’t be long until the Kanto Tour is held in Pokémon Go, and that also means that the region events are slowly coming to a close. The Hoenn event will be followed by the final Johto event, which will of course focus on Pokémon from the Johto region (and thus the 2nd generation of the game).

The highlights of the Johto event are probably the Tier 5 Raids with Entei, Raikou and Suicune. Furthermore, you can build an army of Despotar with the Catapult attack – trust us, it’s still a very powerful pseudo-Legendary. And then, of course, there’s the Collector’s Challenge, which rewards you with Pokéballs and smoke.

You can’t expect a Limited Research like the Hoenn event, but you might be happy if you’re lucky enough to snag a Shiny Miltank. Below is our guide to the Johto event, giving you an overview of the Johto Week features and the Collector’s Challenge. If you want to challenge Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, check out our updated counter guides.

  • The Johto event in Pokémon Go will begin on January 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM local time and will be active until January 31, 2021 at 8:00 PM local time.
  • Endive, Feurigel, Karnimani, Voltilamm, Hoppspross, Griffel, Sonnkern, Yanma, Kramurx, Skorgla, Snubbull, Schneckmag, Miltank and other Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. With a fair amount of luck, you may even encounter an Iridescent Miltank!
  • The following Pokémon hatch from 5-km eggs: Pichu, Pii, Fluffeluff, Felino, Rabauz, Kussilla, and Larvitar.
  • Exclusive field research projects allow you to earn stardust and encounters with Pokémon such as Endive, Feurigel, Karnimani, Lampi, Voltilamm, Mogelbaum, and Miltank.
  • The following Pokémon appear in Raid battles:

    • Endivie, Feurigel, Karnimani, Voltilamm, Marill, and Larvitar appear in level 1 Raid battles.
    • Togetic, Psiana, Nachtara, Panzaeron, and Miltank appear in Level 3 Raid battles.
  • If you evolve the following Pokémon during the event, they will each learn the exclusive attack from the 2018 Community Day events!
    • Evolve Lorblatt (the of Endivie) so that your Meganie learns the attack Flora Statue.
    • Evolve Igelavar (the evolution of Feurigel) so that your Tornupto learns the attack Lohe Cannonade.
    • Evolve Waaty (the evolution of Voltilamm) so that your Ampharos learns the attack Dragon Pulse.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
