The Hyper League is the second highest of three different PvP leagues in Pokémon GO. If you want to be successful here, you need a well-matched team of Pokémon. We’ll tell you which pocket monsters are particularly suitable for this in our guide.
After we recently introduced you to the best Pokémon for the Pokémon GO Super League, today it’s all about the Hyper League: This second-highest of the three PvP leagues in Niantic’s mobile game allows you to use Pokémon with a maximum of 2,500 HP. Because the Pokémon GO meta changes regularly due to the release of new Pokémon, the PvP battles require corresponding preparation.
Based on a guide from Pokemongohub, we now reveal which Pokémon currently perform best in the Hyper League. We wish you a lot of fun while browsing and good luck for your next battles!
Lead – The best Pokémon for the beginning of the battle
If you open the battle skillfully, you have already won a lot. Pokémon that can deal a lot of damage quickly with their normal attacks should therefore not be missing from your team:
- Garados (Type Water/Flight) with Fire Odo and Crunch/Fury Attack/Hydropump is suitable as a counter against almost all Pokémon of the Hyper League meta and deals significant damage even to its own counter Pokémon thanks to its attack combo.
- Lugia (Psycho/Flight Type) with Dragon Rod or Special Sensor and Aero Ace/Hydropump earns a spot on your Hyper League team thanks to its broad countering abilities.
- Lohgock (Fire/Fight type) with Counter and Lohe Cannonade/Fire Sweep works best as a counter against Registeel, but is also generally a good attacker against Plant Pokémon like Bisaflor.
Finalist – The Best Pokémon for the Final Blow
When the battle is coming to an end and your opponent has used up its shields, you need strong finishers. These Pokémon fill the role best:
- Giratina (Change Form and Primal Form, Spirit/Dragon Type) with Dark Claw and Fire Ember and Dragon Claw and Ancient Power, respectively, is one of the best Pokémon in the Hyper League, ramming your opponents into the ground with its powerful attacks.
- Bisaflor (Plant/Poison type) with Tendril Strike and Flora Statue already impressed in Super League with high damage at moderate cost and continues its triumphant march in Hyper League.
- Knackrack (Type) with Clay Shot and Earthquake/Fury Attack scores mostly against Ground and Steel Pokémon, but is suitable as a general finalist at the end of a battle due to its good Energy damage balance.
- Groudon (Ground type) with Clay Shot and Earthquake/Firestorm/Solar Beam is suitable as an all-rounder especially with Earthquake, but can cause a lot of trouble especially to Plant Pokémon with Firestorm.
- ALoLa-Sleimok (type Poison) with Telltale and Mud Wave/Finster Aura causes a lot of damage and wipes out a whole team if your opponent doesn’t use shields. But it is also good as an attacker in the middle of the fight.
Attackers – The best Pokémon for maximum damage.
Sometimes it’s all about dealing as much damage as possible in as little time as possible. The best way to achieve this is with the following Pokémon, which score with strong attacks and low energy costs:
- Sumpex (Water/Soil type) with Clay Shot and Aqua Claw is already popular in Super League, but also comes up trumps as an attacker in Hyper League.Beware of Plant Pokémon, however, and supplement your team with a strong Fire Pokémon, such as Glurak, if necessary.
- Glurak (Fire Type) with Fire Whirl and Lohe Cannonade/Dragon Claw can really heat up your Hyper League opponents – literally. Because Glurak can do a lot of damage in a short time with low energy costs.
- Dialga (Steel/Dragon type) with Fire Ember and Iron Skull/Thunder/Draco Meteor serves mainly as a counter against Giratina in the Hyper League. Draco Meteor is one of the best attacks in terms of damage and energy consumption, but is mainly suitable as a final attack because of the attack debuff.
Defenders – The Best Defensive Pokémon
Defenders have two main advantages: they lure your opponent into using shields, and they have a high defense value themselves. Therefore, these Pokémon should not be missing in your team:
- Armor Mewtu (Psycho type) with Confusion and Blast or Stone Hail is especially good at luring opponents into using their shields. It also has much better defense than the normal Mewtu.
- Registeel (type) Steel with Target Shot and Light Cannon already worked in Super League, but also scores in Hyper League with damage and top HP values. Beware of Ground and Battle Pokémon, though, and supplement your team with a powerful Flying Pokémon when you add Registeel to your team.
- Relaxo (Normal type) with Licker and Bodyslam or Earthquake is fast and can take a lot of punishment. So you can use it both at the beginning of the battle or when you need a Pokémon that can take a lot of damage.
The general rule for all of these Pokémon is to make your team as broad as possible and to use counters against the other Pokémon listed here. The Pokémon listed above appear frequently in the Hyper League due to their fighting strength and therefore require skillful counter teams.
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More
The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
