PoGO – Pokémon GO: How to catch master detective Pikachu via Photobomb

For a short time, you can grab Master Detective Pikachu in Pokémon Go. This special version of Pikachu wears a hat that has never been seen before. To catch the Pikachu, you need to trigger a Photobomb. In our short guide, we’ll show you what you need to keep in mind when using the Photobomb.

In addition to the various bonuses that were unlocked during the Master Detective Pikachu event, there is also the special Pikachu with his detective hat. You can only get this by using a Photobomb. We will show you exactly how the Photobomb works.

Step 1: Select a Pokémon in your Pokémon collection and press the camera icon (under the star/favorite icon).

Step 2: Place your Pokémon in the environment by tapping on the screen. You may have to take a few steps back to do this, depending on the Pokémon size.

Step 3: Tap the shutter button once.

Step 4: Take a look at the picture by tapping it in the bottom right corner. When Pikachu has jumped into the game, leave the photo preview

Step 5: Now the Pikachu with detective cap will spawn right next to you.

Known issues:

Can’t place the Pokémon? Look around a bit more and pay attention to the stars/glitter on the screen. If that doesn’t work either, point your camera at the ground and try again.

Does the screen change color? Then you are much too close to the Pokémon. This usually happens when it spawns right in your lap or at your feet. Take a few steps back or select a smaller Pokémon.

Pikachu is not in the picture? Try again with another Pokémon.

Problems with AR? You can also turn off AR for the Photobomb. To do so, go to the settings (on the Pokéball and then on the top right) and uncheck AR/AR+.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
