PoGO – Pokémon Go: Hoenn Event with Shinys and Limited Research – Guide

The makers of Pokémon Go have released the details of the upcoming Hoenn Week event in January 2021. In addition to a Collector’s Challenge, Shiny Stollunior and Shiny Rayquaza, and Kyogre and Groudon in the Raids, there’s also a Limited Research to do this time. We have the info on the Hoenn event in Pokémon Go in our guide.

In Pokémon Go, the Sinnoh event is followed by the Hoenn event. It starts on January 19, 2021 at 10:00 am and is active until January 24, 2021 at 8:00 pm. During this time, you’ll encounter plenty of pocket monsters from the Hoenn region in the wild, in raids, and from eggs, and if you’re lucky, you may even add a Shiny Stollunior to your collection.

Speaking of collections, a Collector’s Challenge awaits you, as well as a Temporary Research. The latter, in turn, rewards you with bonbons for Groudon and Kyogre, as well as a Rayquaza with the attack Gale if you complete all the tasks. Of course, this Rayquaza can also be Shiny. If you evolve a Metang to Metagross during the event, it will learn the Star Slash attack, which was previously exclusive to Tanhel Community Day.

The raids are also interesting, as Pandir can appear in Tier 3 raids. As the icing on the cake, you can still find a free package with three long-distance raid passes in the store from 22:00 on January 19.

Here is the basic information about the spawns:

  • Geckarbor, Flemmli, Hydropi, Schwalbini, Krakeelo, Nasgnet, Stollunior, Meditie, Roselia, Kanivanha, Camaub, Puppance and more Pokémon appear more often in the wild. If you’re lucky, you’ll even encounter an Iridescent Stollunior!
  • The following Pokémon hatch from 5-km eggs: Eneco, Stollunior, Cancer Corps, Liliep, Anorith, Kindwurm, and Tanhel.
  • Exclusive field research projects allow you to earn stardust and encounters with Pokémon such as Geckarbor, Flemmli, Hydropi, Stollunior, Plusle, Minun, and Wailmer.
  • The following Pokémon appear in Raid battles:
  • Geckarbor, Flemmli, Hydropi, Trasla, Stollunior, and Kindwurm appear in level 1 Raid battles.
  • Kapilz, Flunkifer, Groink, Pandir, and Absol appear in level 3 Raid battles.
  • Kyogre and Groudon appear in level 5 raids.
  • Evolve Metang (Tanhel’s ) during the event so that your Metagross learns the previously exclusive Community Day attack Star Slash.
  • From January 19, 2021 at 10:00 PM until January 25, 2021 at 10:00 PM, a free bundle of three long-distance raid passes will be available in the store.

For the Hoenn Event Collector’s Challenge in Pokémon Go, you’ll need to catch Geckarbor, Flemmli, Hydropi, Nincada, Nasgnet, Stollunior, Plusle, Minun, and Kindwurm as part of the promotion. You will be rewarded with three Silver Sanana Berries, experience points, and a smoke.

Some steps and rewards are already known about the Temporary Research for the Hoenn Event 2021, which we will list for you here afterwards. It is not yet known whether these are all steps and rewards. As soon as the event is live in Pokémon Go, we will update the following overview if tasks are added. Update from January 19, 2021: The Temporary Research for the Hoenn Festivities only includes the already known step.

Pokémon Go: Hoenn Event 2021 – Step 1/1

  • Catch 2 Kyogre – Reward: 10 x Kyogre Candy
  • Catch 2 Groudon – Reward: 10 x Groudon Candy
  • Catch 30 Pokémon – Reward: 30 x Pokéball

Reward for completing step 1: 1 x Silver Sanana Berry, 3,000 XP, encounter with Rayquaza with the attack Gale

Speaking of which, the Johto event will then follow the Hoenn event, running from January 26, 2021 to January 31, 2021.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
