Garados is a Tier 4 raid boss in Pokémon Go and demands a lot from players if they want to defeat him. We have a counter guide for the raiders among you who want to get their hands on the mighty Garados.

Every now and then, old acquaintances make an appearance in Pokémon Go’s raids that have a legendary reputation but no legendary status. For example, the affectionately named Godzillamon Despotar, a powerful mon of the types rock and unlight, which every trainer should have in his collection. And it includes the water snake Garados, a Pokémon of the types water and flight, whose obtaining is not so trivial. Because to evolve a Garados in Pokémon Go, you need a whopping 400 Karpador candies, and not everyone has those lying around. Reason enough to dare to fight Garados in the Raids. We give you our counter-guide for the confrontation.

Pokémon Go: Garados as a raid boss

Garados comes as a raid boss with 33,893 CP, which you have to bludgeon down, and electro attacks are best suited for this, because Garados takes double damage from electro types. However, Garados is also boosted to level 25 in windy and rainy weather. For example, in the rain, the instant attack Cascade and the charge attack Hydropump deal more damage. The following Pokémon are recommended for battle. While Garados can be defeated with two players under favorable conditions, you should up with three to five high-level trainers or six to eight low-level trainers if you want to play it safe.

  • Raikou with thunder shock and surge
  • Elevoltek with thunder shock and surge
  • Magnezone with sparkle and surge
  • Zapdos with thunder shock and thunder lightning
  • Luxtra with spark and surge
  • Blitza with Thunder Shock and Thunder Bolt

You can also resort to the following attackers if you still have room in your battle group:

  • Mewtu with Psycho Blade and Thunder Bolt
  • Zapplarang with Spark Leap and Thunder Bolt
  • Zebritz with Spark Leap and Surge
  • Melmetal with Thunder Shock and Thunder Bolt

Pokémon Go: Catch Garados

If you have successfully completed the battle against Garados and have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball, then Garados has 1,937 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Garados is boosted to level 25 in rainy or windy weather, then it has 2,422 CP at perfect 100% IV values. We wish you good luck in the hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
