PoGO – Pokémon Go: Friendship Day – get fat XP, new bonus

Originally, a Global Challenge was supposed to take place as part of the Friendship Day event in Pokémon Go. This has now been cancelled – in favor of an XP bonus. We have updated our guide to Friendship Day in Pokémon Go in April 2021.

Update from April 22, 2021: The Friendship Day event in Pokémon Go, which will take place on April 24, 2021, has been adjusted by the developers. The Global Challenge, which should have started during the equivalent of Community Day, has been cancelled. But there’s a nice XP bonus for completing the Collector’s Challenge – instead of 100,000 XP, you can expect 175,000 XP. That’s enough to make you weak.

Because of the bugs?

It’s possible that the folks at Niantic decided on the XP boost because there are currently too many bugs with the XP systems. For one thing, the effect of lucky eggs isn’t added to friendship XP, and for another, the members of Rocket, who serve as a grateful source of all sorts of experience points for XP farmers, had to be deactivated. Should you decide to join the XP hunt on April 24, 2021 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, we wish you lots of fun and success.

Original post from April 13, 2021: Rejoice, fans of Pokémon Go! Niantic has come up with a new event again. Apparently based on the monthly recurring Community Day is the Friendship Day, which will take place on April 24, 2021 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. The first Friendship Day is themed Plant, and because of that, mainly Plant Pokémon will appear in the wild.

You’ll also be able to complete a Collector’s Challenge and a Global Challenge to earn all sorts of XP. And since Friendship Day is also about friendship, there are of course bonuses if you want to swap Pokémon with friends. Below is an overview of the information already known about Friendship Day on April 24, 2021, followed by the first hints about the Collector’s Challenge.

  • Friendship Day in April 2021 in Pokémon Go is plant-themed and will take place on April 24, 2021 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
  • Various plant Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild.

  • When you swap, you are more likely to receive a lucky Pokémon. This bonus is active until 5pm (local time) on the day of the event.
  • The swap range is increased to 40 km.

  • Smoke lasts for three hours during the event.
  • Lure modules last for three hours during the event.

Friendship Day Collector’s Challenge (April 2021)

As usual with Collector Challenges in Pokémon Go, the tasks are primarily about catching rather than collecting. The Spring Event 2021 Collector’s Challenge was the first exception so far where you had to evolve a Pocket Monster on top of that to complete the Collector’s Challenge. Judging by the Pokémon in the picture for the Friendship Day announcement, it can be assumed that you’ll need to catch the following mon, among others:

  • Tangela
  • Tarnpignon
  • Sun Core
  • Endive
  • Waumboll

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
