PoGO – Pokémon Go: Flight of Fancy – New Team Rocket Special Research – Guide

The makers of Pokémon Go have announced a new special research around Team and its boss Giovanni still for February 28, 2021 from 12:00. Thus, at least in the – Season of legends, the recurring Giovanni special research for Super Rocket radars returns to the game. This time Giovanni has Crypto Birds in his luggage again. In the guide we give you an overview of the steps and rewards.

Joy for all those who have so far not managed to secure a Crypto Arktos, Crypto Zapdos and Crypto Lavados by defeating Team Rocket leader Giovanni, because with a new, monthly recurring special research as part of the – Season of Legends, this will finally be possible again. The developers of Pokémon Go announce that the new special research will be available from February 28, 2021, starting at 12:00. Thus, you will receive a Super Rocket Radar via the completion of the required steps and can then face Giovanni. The latter’s legendary crypto-birds change through every month:

  • In March 2021 Giovanni fights with Crypto-Arktos
  • In April 2021 Giovanni fights with Crypto-Zapdos
  • In May 2021 Giovanni fights with Crypto-Lavados

Accordingly, you will then have the chance to get Crypto-Arktos, Crypto-Zapdos and Crypto-Lavados in the three months. Giovanni’s special research will then be repeatable every month so you can grab the Super Rocket radars. You can find a counter guide for Giovanni’s team at the link; we also have counter guides for Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff. Since the latter already made a new appearance in February 2021, it’s not yet certain whether they’ll be fighting with other pocket monsters this time. We will update the counter guides as soon as this is known.

Giovanni is back!

Of course, it’s a bit of a shame that Giovanni doesn’t have new legendary fighters, but hey! The Crypto variants of the three legendary birds of the Kanto region are still pretty powerful, and you don’t want to miss them!

At this point, it’s not yet known what steps and rewards await in detail with the new Team Rocket special research. However, it can be strongly assumed that the tasks will be based on those of the “old” recurring Giovanni research “A Growing Challenge”. In any case, one thing is clear: at some point you’ll have to defeat Cliff, Arlo and Sierra to get your hands on a Super Rocket radar. Below you’ll find the steps and rewards for the Special Research A Growing Challenge so far. Of course, if any parts of this turn out to have changed on February 28, 2021, we’ll adjust this guide promptly as well!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
