If you want to actively participate in raids in Pokémon GO, you need a good team of powerful Pokémon. However, beginners in particular quickly run into difficulties when hunting for the appropriate companions and easily lose track of them. To make sure that you, as a newcomer or returning player, can keep track of everything, we’ll introduce you to a series of easy-to-obtain yet useful Pokémon that will provide you with excellent support in your first raids.
Now that Niantic has unlocked the third generation of Pokémon in the mobile app Pokémon GO, trainers can hardly keep themselves busy with catchable companions in the game. Newcomers or those returning to the game quickly feel overwhelmed, especially when it comes to preparing for the raid in the endgame. However, there are a number of easy-to-get Pokémon in Pokémon GO that can help you in your first raid. In our quick tip, we’ll introduce you to these Pokémon in more detail based on an article from Pokemongohub and explain which Pokémon is suitable as a replacement for certain particularly strong Pokémon in the meta game and which one you can use for which raid
You can get Dog Monkey with a tirade and a parasite by feeding 50 candies to Dog Taster. It is suitable as an alternative to Despotar and plays to its strengths in raids against Mewtu, Latios and Latias.
Develop Arkani with Fire Fang, Fire Storm or Surge with 50 candies from Fukano. Use it as a replacement for Lavados and Entei in raids against Registeel and Regice.
Flamara with Fire Whirl and Heat Fury is also used in place of Lavados and Entei and in the raid against Registeel and Regice.
Blitza with Thunder Lightning replaces Raikou and Zapdos. Use it in raids against Glurak.
Psiana with Seer can be developed with 50 Evoli candies. Use it instead of Simsala and Mewtu in raids whenever you need a high damage glass cannon.
Aquana with Hydropump, Aquaknarre or Wet Tail acts as a replacement for Garados and Kyogre. It is therefore especially suitable in raids against Despotar, Glurak, Stolloss and Regirock.
Austos with Ice Fury and Avalanche helps you in the raid against Raiquaza, Latios and Latias instead of Arktos and Lapras.
Keifel with Ice Shatter and Avalanche is developed with 50 candies from Squeak. It also replaces Lapras and Arktos and helps you against Raiquaza, Latios and Latias.
Rizeros with Earthquake and Claybell is a good alternative for Groudon. You can get it with 50 candies as an evolution of Rihorn and use it in the raid against Stolloss, Regirock and Registeel.
You can get Hariyama with Counter and Blast as a replacement for Machomei against 50 candies as Makuhita’s progression. Use it against Despotar, Stolloss, Lapras, Absol, Regirock, Regice and Registeel in the raid.
You develop Ursaring with Counter and Melee against 50 candies from Teddiursa. You also use it as a replacement for Machomei in the raid against Despotar, Stolloss, Lapras, Absol, Regirock, Regice and Registeel.
Kapilz with Counter and Blast is available for 50 candies as an evolution of Knilz. It is suitable as a third Pokémon to replace Machomei in the Raid against Despotar, Stolloss, Lapras, Absol, Regirock, Regice and Registeel.
You can develop Kokowei with Solar Beam from Owei for 50 candies. It is the best Pokémon with Solar Beam in the game and therefore supports you perfectly in the fight against Despotar, Stolloss and Regirock.
Geowaz with Stone Throw and Stone Edge is one of the best Meta Pokémon in the game. You can get it for 125 candies as the (second) evolution of Kleinstein. It supports you especially well in the fight against Glurak and Rayquaza.
Now it’s up to you: Can you think of any other Pokémon that are easy to get and work well in the meta-game for Raid battles? Write it down in the comments. As usual, you can read more news and tips about Niantic’s mobile app on our Pokémon GO topic page.
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More
The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
