Original news from March 14, 2019: The mysterious Pokémon Deoxys, which has already haunted the EX Raids in Pokémon Go in its normal form and in its attack form, will appear in its defense form in the EX Raids starting March 25, 2019. The Psycho Pokémon will then take more damage from Beetle, Unlight, and Spirit attacks, but deal more heavily against Battle and Poison Pokémon – so you don’t necessarily want to send your Machomei army into battle with Deoxys (Defense Form).

Pokémon Go: Deoxys (Defense Form) as a Raid Boss

Deoxys (Defense Form) has 36,170 health as a raid boss. If the Pokémon is not boosted by the weather, then it has WP values between 1,228 and 1,299 at level 20. If Deoxys (Defense Form) is caught in windy weather, then it comes along at level 25 with WP values between 1,535 and 1,624. If foggy weather prevails, then you can manage the fight with three high-level trainers with level 40 Gengars with the attacks Licker and Haunted Ball. If you prefer to play it safe, you should take on Deoxys (Defense Form) with a team of four to nine high-level trainers or ten to twenty low-level trainers.

Deoxys (defense form) possible attacks are Counter (combat type) and Zen Headbutt (psycho type) for instant attacks, and Psyschub (psycho type), Stone Hail (ground type) and Thunderbolt (electric type) for charge attacks. Partly cloudy weather boosts the damage of Stone Hail, cloudy weather boosts the damage of Counter, rainy weather boosts the damage of Thunder Bolt, and windy weather boosts the damage of Zen Headbutt and Psy Thrust. If you don’t value a Deoxys (defense form) boosted by the weather (as mentioned with wind), it’s best to attack it in rain (your bug attacks do more damage) or fog (Spirit and Unlight attacks do more damage). The battle will be most difficult in windy weather, if Deoxys (Defense Form) has Zen Headbutt and/or Psy Thrust then.

The following Pokémon are considered the best counters for fighting Deoxys (Defense Form):

  • Gengar with the attacks Dark Claw/Licker and Haunted Ball
  • Snibunna with the attacks Disclosure and Parasite
  • Metwu with the attacks Psychoklinge and Spukball
  • Kramchef with the attacks Standpauke and Finsteraura
  • Banette with the attacks Dark Claw and Spookball
  • Despotar with the attacks Bite and Crunch

If you still need to fill up your team, you can also lean towards the following attackers:

  • Deoxys (attack form) with the attacks Poison Blow and Sinister Aura.
  • Absol with the attacks Telltale and Sinister Aura
  • Tohaido with the attacks Bite and Crunch
  • Hundemon with the attacks Standpauke and Schmarotzer
  • Yanmega with the attacks Beetle Bite and Beetle Growl
  • Pinsir with the attacks Anger Blade and Cross Scissors
  • Scherox with the attacks Anger Blade/Bug Bite and Cross Scissors

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
