What is a counter in Pokémon Go? A counter is a term for a Pokémon that proves effective against another, primarily through its type (or types) as well as its attacks.

Original news from March 22, 2020: the developers of Pokémon Go are letting the legendary 5th generation Pokémon Demeteros into the game’s Tier 5 Raids starting at 10:00 p.m. on March 31, 2020. That’s where the Pokémon of Wealth, or more likely the earthy cloud flitter, will remain until April 21, 2020 at 22:00. Demeteros, as the Lord of Agriculture, is a pocket monster of the types Flight and Ground, and therefore you should pack primarily Water and Ice Pokémon in your battle team.

Under extremely ideal conditions, the mon can be defeated with two high-level trainers, but better not bet your money on it. That’s why we’ve created a counter guide for you, so you can prepare for the Demeteros raid boss in the best possible way. Demeteros, by the way, has the potential to knock all previous Earth favorites like Groudon or Rameidon off their thrones. As a metagame player, you should definitely secure at least one copy.

Pokémon Go: Demeteros as a raid boss

As mentioned, Demeteros is a Ground and Flight type pocket monster. This makes it doubly weak against ice attacks and single weak against water attacks – so you know what to do ^^ Demeteros has two forms in and of itself, the normal Incanation form and an Animal Spirit form. In Pokémon Go, however, this doesn’t make much difference, because Demeteros has the same abilities in both variants. You’ll be fighting the normal form, though.

The Legendary Wealth Pokémon is boosted by windy and sunny weather, which benefits its possible instant attack Clay Shot and charge attack Earth Powers on Sun – though Water and Ice Pokémon don’t take separate damage from ground attacks. Of the charge attacks, only the dragon attack Rage Attack can be boosted on windy. But even with that, ice and water pocket monsters don’t have much of a problem. Under perfect conditions, two level-40 players can take on Demeteros, but to be on the safe side, you can use three to five high-level trainers – or six to eight lower-level players. When fighting Demeteros, it’s best to use the following Pokémon with the following attacks:

  • Mamutel with powder snow and avalanche
  • Snibunna with ice piltter and avalanche
  • Glaziola with ice breath and avalanche
  • Mewtu with psycho blade and ice ray
  • Rossana with ice breath and avalanche
  • Kyogre with cascade and blizzard
  • Porygon-Z with aiming shot and Blizzard
  • Sumpex with aqua gun and aqua howitzer
  • Regice with Ice Sodem and Blizzard

You can also use the following fighters

  • Arktos with ice breath and ice ray
  • Impergator with ice tooth and aqua howitzer
  • Austos with ice breath and avalanche
  • Impoleon with cascade and aqua howitzer
  • Lapras with ice breath and ice ray
  • Frosdedje with powder snow and avalanche

Pokémon Go: Catch Demeteros

If you have successfully completed the battle against Demeteros and have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball, then Demeteros has 2,050 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Demeteros is boosted to level 25 in sunny or windy weather, then it will have 2,563 CP at perfect 100% IV values. We wish you good luck in your hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
