When the next Pokémon GO Community Day takes place on May 24, 2020, you will be able to catch the plant Pokémon Samurzel in the wild especially often. This in turn gets the attack Bullet Seed when you evolve it to Tengulist. We’ll tell you whether it’s worth the effort and what Tengulist with Sphere Seed is capable of.
The next Pokémon GO Community Day is just around the corner: The plant Pokémon Samurzel will do the honors this time. If you evolve it into Tengulist during the event, it will get the exclusive instant attack Bullet Seed. But is the effort for the attack worth it?
Tengulist with Bullet Seed: For collectors, yes, but for the meta, no?
Niantic’s decision to give Samurzel, of all things, its own Community Day and to make the Bullet Seed attack the exclusive move for Tengulist development has met with little approval from fans. There are two reasons for this: Samurzel and especially its evolution Tengulist are hardly any good in the PvE meta, because the stats of the plant Pokémon can’t keep up with the top mon in this category – such as Gewaldro, Bisaflor or Roserade.
Also, Tengulist already has an instant attack, Standpauke, which is very similar to Kugelsaat in terms of damage and speed, except for the type. Standpauke is even slightly superior to Kugelsaat in PvP, as current statistics from the Super League show. Ultimately, this means that anyone who was hoping that the new attack would strengthen Tengulist’s role in the meta on Community Day will be disappointed.
Nevertheless, Tengulist is certainly suitable as a Pokémon for battles in Super League and Hyper League. Also, because Sphere Seed is not much different from Timpanogos, you can catch enough Samurzels during Community Day to evolve one of them into Tengulist and boost your PvP roster.
The Community Day is also worthwhile for collectors for collectors, not only because of the exclusive Bullet Seed attack: You can also catch Samurzel as a Shiny variant and evolve it into Shiny Blanas and Shiny Tengulist. In the long run, a Shiny Tengulist with Spherical Seed could be very desirable, at least among collectors – even though we can now teach our Pokémon exclusive attacks with the help of Top TMs.
Community Day with Samurzel: Here’s why the event is worthwhile even without orb seeds
If you don’t think Samurzel with Orb Seed and the prospect of a Shiny Tengulist are worth the effort of Community Day, there are still a few bonuses you shouldn’t miss. You’ll earn triple experience points for catching Pokémon during the event. In addition, smoke lasts for three hours and your buddy Pokémon will bring you items (for example, Pokéballs).
So if you’re not interested in Samurzel, but you’re after experience points instead, you can clean up big time during the event. So use your smoke right at the start of the event and activate your buddy Pokémon (requires at least Super Buddy status) to enjoy the benefits of Community Day with Samurzel from your own couch.
Last but not least, you can also complete a special research called “See Twice”. To participate, you need to buy an event ticket for 99 cents in the store. You can find all the details about the special research around Samurzel in our separate guide.
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More
The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
