Pokémon GO fans can currently grab item boxes again as part of a special sale. We have looked at the offers and tell you whether the purchase of the boxes in detail is worth it.
The box sales have become as much a part of Pokémon GO as the regular raid events. Therefore, Niantic has currently started another sale of various boxes. Players can purchase three boxes in the current September sale: the Special Box for 480 coins, the Hyperbox for 1,480 coins, and the Adventure Box for 1,480 coins as well.
But what are the individual offers really worth? Are the boxes worth buying? We analyzed their value based on a breakdown from Leekduck.
Box | Special Box | Hyperbox | Adventure Box |
Price | 480 Pokécoins | 1.480 Pokécoins | 1.480 Pokécoins |
Content | 2x Premium Raid Pass | 14x Premium Raid Pass | 15x Super Brood Machine |
2x Super Brood Machine | 10x Super Brood Machine | 4x Star Piece
1x smoke | 4x star piece | 4x smoke
1x lucky egg | 4x smoke | 2x incubator |
With the special box, you get two Raid Passes and two Super Brooders, the equivalent of which exceeds the cost of the box by 120 Pokécoins. In addition, there is a smoke and a lucky egg each, which saves you a total of 220 coins. That equates to a 31.4 percent discount. If you’re after both Raid Passes and Hatchery Machines, you can safely grab the special box this time around. Smoke and lucky egg are a nice bonus. However, if you only want spawn machines or raid passes, it’s better to leave the special box alone.
The Hyperbox is an upgraded version of the Special Box: You get lots of Raid Passes and Hatchery Machines in combination. Niantic also gives you four star pieces and smoke on top of that. At a price of 1,480 coins and a savings of 61.1 percent, the Hyperbox is therefore an all-round carefree package for all trainers whose primary focus is on raiding, but who would also like to hatch some eggs at the same time.
As usual, the adventure box focuses on the hatchery enthusiasts: it offers the most hatchers (15 super and two normal) of all three boxes offered. It also comes with four star parts and four smokes. Accordingly, the adventure box is especially worthwhile for those trainers who have collected many eggs. But as usual, you should only use the super incubators for 7km or 10km eggs – it’s not worth using them for 2km eggs.
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More
The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
