PoGO – Pokémon GO: Battle chick alert! How to defeat Raid newcomer Togetic

In addition to Gen 4 boss Giratina, Pokémon GO’s rarest chick is currently celebrating its raid premiere: At least until November 20, 2018, you can defeat and catch Togetic in the Tier 4 Raids. Here are the best counter Pokémon to use and why it’s worth going to the arena.

With Pokémon GO’s current raid rotation, not only Gen 4 boss Giratina, but also a second-generation pocket monster celebrates its raid premiere: Togetic. From October 24 to November 20, 2018, the Fairy/Flight dual-type chick – along with Dogemon, ALoLa Knogga, Despotar, and Absol – will be making the Tier 4 Raids unsafe.

Why is it worth the trip to the arena? While Togetic’s biggest benefit is adding the rare Pokémon to your Pokédex, that could change soon: With the fourth generation, Togepi’s second evolution Togekiss will also make its way into Pokémon GO in the coming weeks. According to Pokémon GO Hub, if Niantic’s app makers give Togekiss a Fairy-type instant attack in addition to a charge attack, the fledgling could become the best Fairy Pokémon and an outstanding Dragon counter. Reason enough to collect a Togetic with high stats and stock up on Togepi candies.

Pokémon GO: These Gen 4 Pokémon have been spotted so far

Strongest Togetic counter is Community Day Metagross with Star Slash. Source: Niantic/Pokemongohub

Tier 4 boss Togetic faces you with 19,141 CP, takes very effective damage from steel, rock, poison, electric, and ice attacks, and can comfortably be sent to the arena boards by three players. High-level trainers can also try their hand at a duo raid with the right counter Pokémon, weather boosts, and friendship bonuses. By far the choice is Community Day Metagross with the Star Slash attack.

  • Despotar (Rock/Unlight) with Catapult (Rock) and Stone Edge (Rock)
  • Raikou (Electro) with Thunder Shock (Electro) and Surge (Electro)
Zapdos (Electro/Flight) with Thunder Shock (Electro, Legacy Move) and Thunder Bolt (Electro)

Pokémon GO: Togetics Attacks

Instant AttacksCharge Attacks
Special Sensor (Psycho)Spell Glow (Fairy)
Power Reserve (Normal)Aero-Ass (Flight)
Ancient Power (Rock)

Only Togetic’s Fairy Attack Spell Glow does significant damage. However, if you send Metagross into the raid ring, you don’t have to worry about evasive maneuvers, as various videos of duo raids prove:

Pokémon GO: The weather outlook for battle chicks.

Togetic is enhanced by windy and – just like its most powerful attack Spell Appearance – cloudy weather. As a reward for the higher difficulty, you’ll get a better Pokémon that will save you a lot of mileage and stardust if you defeat and catch Togetic:

  • At level 20 and without weather boosting, a captured Togetic has 825 to 881 WP,
  • with weather boost and level 25 it has 1,032 to 1,102 WP.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
