With a new event in Pokémon Go, there’s also a new filling for the Special Box, the Super Box and the Hyperbox in the in-game store. This time, the boxes have been equipped in the spirit of the Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago – especially with Pokéballs and Raid Passes. Whether the purchase of the boxes is worth it or whether you should rather give it a wide berth, we explain.

On July 14 and 15, 2018, the second Pokémon Go Fest took place in Chicago, and that was reason enough for the developers of the AR app from Niantic to equip the three special offer boxes in Pokémon Go with a new filling. So Special Box, Super Box and Hyperbox now have new content for the near future, aimed primarily at the raiders among you. After all, premium raid passes are included in all three boxes. The breeders among you could also flirt with the Hyperbox offer, because nine super breeders are included. All in all, the offer is not quite as good as the Safari Zone in Dortmund. Below we list the contents in detail.

If you’re in raiding and hatching mode with Zapdos Days coming up, the current Lugia hype, or still thanks to the 7km Friendship Eggs, you’ve got a good deal with the Hyperbox – you’d spend 3,000 Pokécoins on the Super Hatcheries and Premium Raid Passes alone. Even if you’re only interested in the twelve Raid Passes, the deal is still okay – but keep in mind that if you get a Zapdos Tag when it comes out, you can pull five Raid Passes from an arena for free.

If you’re only after Raid Passes, then the Special and Super Box deals are okay, but not particularly exciting, so go for the Super Box if you’re also in need of the Super Spawning Machines. If you honestly don’t care about Raid Passes, then save your coins for the next batch of boxes in Pokémon Go. Because none of the offers are so great that we would blindly advise you to buy them. The authors of Pokémon Go Hub agree.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from .gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
