There are too powerful items in circulation in WoW Burning Crusade Classic. Streamers have helped themselves to the items – and have not yet been punished.
Even though the launch of Burning Crusade Classic, the first expansion of WoW Classic, went roughly without major problems, there were some difficulties in the aftermath. Especially PvP fans are pretty pissed off, because a bug favored players who were particularly fast.
The fastest players now have items that shouldn’t even exist yet.
Twitch streamers lead the way – viewers follow suit
What happened?
With the launch of Burning Crusade Classic, there is a lot for PvP players to work towards as well. This includes many items that can be earned through honor. However, a bug caused the merchants in WoW to offer items that should not yet be in the assortment. Fast players struck here and covered themselves with these items before Blizzard restricted the offer of the dealers.
Among the “culprits” were bigger streamers like Bean (via twitch), who showed the mistake to his viewers, who also helped themselves to the items.
The streamer Bean with items that he actually should not have.
What items are we talking about here?
We’re talking about PvP items that weren’t supposed to be available until – Season 2. These items have better stats than their – Season 1 counterparts and in some cases there are even items for other equipment slots that are not otherwise occupied.
The items are a little stronger because they have more stats and so will be unobtainable in the coming months.
Critics see integrity of PvP in WoW Classic in danger
What is Blizzard doing?
It remains to be seen whether Blizzard will take back players’ items after the fact. At least that is what many players are demanding, who currently see the integrity of PvP as being in danger.
Because even if the advantage may seem small, the bit adds up over the course of hundreds of battlegrounds and PvP arenas, so that better items also lead to more victories in the long run.
Community scoffs, demands action:
Some even demand punishment for all those who have bought the items in question. Account suspensions of a few days up to several months are demanded here. Others, however, do not consider a penalty appropriate, because they see the fault with Blizzard. Players can’t be punished for buying available items from a retailer – even if they know that these items shouldn’t be available yet.
Some here also speak sarcastically of the “streamer bonus taking on whole new dimensions in 2021.”
The mildest solution would probably be to take the corresponding items away from the players again and to refund the spent currency.
Since Blizzard hasn’t done that yet, it’s doubtful whether that will happen or players will be allowed to keep their items. Perhaps the developers are collecting data on who owns such items and then removing them in a simultaneous action.
How would you proceed in this case? Should players be able to keep their items? Or do you have to take them away and punish the players?
