Probably the most sought-after monsters in Pokémon GO are Shinys. In order to fill the Pokédex with them, some players want to catch as large a selection of these dazzling specimens as possible. Now, however, one trainer is reporting an incident in which he didn’t get the Pokémon he actually wanted to catch. We took a look at what happened and show it to you.
What kind of incident are we talking about?
With a bit of luck, trainers in Pokémon GO have the opportunity to encounter a dazzling Pokémon. Trainer DaRk_ViVi also reported such an encounter on reddit (via reddit.com). However, it did not go as he had expected.
- He received a Traumato in his daily spawn, which faced him in its iridescent form after opening.
- However, after successfully catching it, the surprise happened: the former iridescent Traumato became a Shiny Ditto.
What is a daily spawn?
A daily spawn is a Pokémon that appears the first time you open the game and is different for each trainer. It is therefore like a personal Pokémon. Unlike other monsters, it does not flee after a short time, but remains in that place all day until it is caught.
What kind of Pokémon is Ditto?
Ditto is a monster that can customize its appearance, allowing it to hide behind other Pokémon in the game. With the change of – Season , trainers in Pokémon GO also have the opportunity to encounter an iridescent Ditto in the wild for the first time.
This means that Ditto can now hide behind monsters that already exist in their Shiny form in the game and thus become a Shiny itself. However, according to information from Niantic, this should only be the case if the Pokémon to be caught is not an iridescent specimen.
So if you encounter a Shiny Traumato like trainer DaRk_ViVi, it normally shouldn’t turn into a Ditto. But then how could that happen? The trainers on reddit have also thought about this and are trying to find reasons for this incident.
This is the guess of the community
After DaRk_ViVi drew attention to his incident via the reddit platform, other trainers are also coming forward to report similar experiences. For example, effrightscorp reports an encounter with an iridescent Teddiursa, which subsequently became a Shiny-Ditto (via reddit.com). This was also the Pokémon from the daily spawn.
For this reason, many reddit users agree, it must be related to the daily spawns. Some suspect that Niantic forgot to adjust this list to the Shiny conditions with Ditto:
- BKoldcuts (via reddit.com): “Maybe the daily spawn is a special case that they didn’t take into account when checking if the appearance can be shiny?”. That’s the only possibility I can think of.”
- seaprincesshnb (via reddit.com): “Yeah, I bet they didn’t apply the logic to the daily spawn. This pool is different and it seems like a list they would “forget” to update with certain rules.”
- snek_nz (via reddit.com): “I mean, I personally wouldn’t be mad. But that’s absolutely not what Niantic indicated would happen. I thought that was the reason Ditto was changed to non iridescent Pokemon in the first place”
Whether Pokémon GO actually forgot to adjust the daily spawns related to Ditto is unknown. If Niantic comments on how these encounters will be handled in the future, you’ll find out here on MeinMMO.
What do you think of DaRk_ViVi’s encounter? Would you have been happy to see a Shiny Ditto, or would you be sad that your original Shiny is now gone? And would you like to see a Ditto come out of shiny monsters in the future? Feel free to write us your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments.
