In #WorldofWarcraft, patch 9.2 introduces a new relic set that you can grind together. However, many players interpret the set as Gear to catch up and see it as far too expensive. But they are wrong, because the stuff is not meant for that at all.
Which set are we talking about?
Since WoW’s new patch 9.2, you can not only hit badass bosses in WoW, but also grind for “Sand Polished Relics” a new level 246 relic set. The stuff is quite expensive though, you need between 160 and 300 relics per item.
According to a reddit user, the entire set therefore comes to 2,070 relics, which is a lot and eats up a lot of time.
What bothers the players?
The reddit user boxonhead11 has a problem with this. Because it would be a gigantic effort to farm so many relics. Rather, it would be enough to make a mythical dungeon of the keystone level 5. That would also yield usable level 246 gear. That would be a lot less effort than spending hours grinding the relic stuff.
Gamers wrong about new Gear – Was never meant for hardcore gamers
What does the community say?
Other players also share the opinion of the creator in the thread. The gear is “absolutely useless”. Other users do not understand why you should get something like that after a week of grinding. There would be much faster methods to get good gear.
It is also unsuitable as catch-up gear, i.e. stuff you get as a newcomer to get into the endgame quickly. Cipher gear would be much better for that.
Relic set is not at all what many players think:
So is the Relic Set from patch 9.2 really for the cat? Not at all, because the set is not meant to be grinded through stubbornly. That doesn’t work out well because the relics only drop during certain activities. Rather, according to our MyMMO Editorial Demon Cortyn, it’s a nice set for casual gamers who play World of Warcraft solo. They keep getting relics through their regular activity, and once they get tired of them, a nice set item pops out here and there.
That you stubbornly sit down for a week and grind over 2,000 relics is not intended here. Rather, this is a nice way for casuals to get a reasonably strong item. Because casuals who play almost exclusively solo don’t use Mythic+5 dungeons, even if they have faster top gear. So all the fuss about the supposed “uselessness” of the Relic set is based on a misunderstanding and misinterpretation around the true usefulness of the set.
