A player in Rainbow Six Siege has managed what many probably dream of: a hopeless round still turned alone. But instead of thanks from his team, he got a kick from the lobby. Thousands of players are now celebrating him for his achievement.
What did the player do? Player and reddit user Byrdman1023 has been playing Doc as a defender in a round on Fortress. Shortly after the start of the round, two of his teammates die and it’s three against five.
Just a few seconds later, his two remaining teammates die, taking only one opponent to the grave with them – he is now playing alone against four opposing players. Instead of giving up on the situation, he cautiously approaches the place where the action was going on until a short time before and encounters a lightning bolt there. The latter takes his shield aside at an inopportune moment and collects a headshot.
While he is then held up by a Montagne, the enemy Jackal tracks him down with his ability and attacks him. Byrdman1023 reacts quickly and takes out Jackal as well before running past Montagne and killing the third enemy with a headshot despite a stun grenade. Finally, the last one standing is Montagne, who makes the same mistake as Blitz and is also taken out. Afterwards, and while the victory of the round is still being announced, the message appears that he has been removed from the game. The corresponding clip has already received over 9,800 upvotes within 14 hours:
Why was he kicked? The rest of the team members have uncompromisingly kicked Byrdman1023 from the team, and in the corresponding reddit thread no one can explain why. Players suspect trolls or simply a toxic part of the community behind it.
Among Rainbow players, the fun expression “clutch or kick” is popular, meaning: win the round against a superior number of opponents, or we’ll kick you out. In this case, apparently both just happened.
Problems with toxic players?
In Rainbow Six, there have been reports for some time now of players not behaving in a friendly or even an unfair manner. There were even cheaters for some time who could simply kick you out of the match. However, Ubisoft has put a stop to that.
Whether poor behavior is an actual problem is hard to say. Demanding games like Rainbow Six tend to tempt emotional outbursts, and no shooter is really immune to this. However, there aren’t too many reports of toxic behavior in Ubisoft’s tactical shooter.
In exchange, some fans have recently drawn attention to themselves with other actions. Thousands of players want to campaign for the late YouTuber IceyCat to be memorialized in the game.
Another, smaller group is campaigning for their favorite operator in the game. Tachanka, who has been around since Rainbow Six’s release, is set to receive a rework in an upcoming update. However, 200 players don’t want that and have started a petition to keep their “lord” as he is and as they love him.
