Player in CoD Vanguard gets a hefty fine because he has disconnected 280 times intentionally

: Vanguard is plagued by players in -Play who use unfair methods to occupy the upper ranks of Ranked-Play despite weak performance. One player who took particularly brazen advantage has now been severely punished. Read the full story here on MyMMO!

What’s the problem with Ranked right now? In the Ranked play of CoD Vanguard, you earn points through victories and thus keep climbing up the ranks. The more skill rating points (SR) you have, the higher you rank. The scale here goes up to 3,000 and more points, whereby the last classification is only open to 250 players worldwide.

On the other hand, one loses points again by defeats and can thus be relegated. Of course, nobody wants that and to avoid such consequences of failure, unscrupulous players like to perform disconnection when a defeat is looming. A defeat that never takes place because of the disconnect is not counted.

Of course, this is not in the sense of the developers, who want to guarantee a fair competition. Therefore, they are now cracking down on the worst offenders.

Player overdoes it hard and gets degraded

How do the developers react? In order to guarantee that Ranked battles work fairly and balanced again, the developers have now taken action. They have analyzed the number of disconnections in the playerbase.

An above-average number of such disconnections were found in 2 percent of the players. According to the developers, this is evidence of unfair behavior and therefore these players will now be massively deducted points.

The worst villain is even mentioned on Twitter, he is said to have experienced over 280 disconnects in just 3 weeks. That would be an average of 16 disconnects per day!

On Twitter, the developers at Treyarch sarcastically congratulate him on his “success”:

Case in point: the top player has disconnected more than 280 times since Ranked Play launched. Enjoy your -2,000 SR loss, chief. We hope it was worth it.

Here’s how the person reacted: So, the developers’ action costs the mentioned player his top rank and is likely to drop him to the third worst position.

But the guy takes it with gallows humor and promptly reported to the Tweet. In the process, he cheekily corrects the developers and gives himself a self-deprecating air:

At least do the math when you say I should lose 2,000 SR. I lose 3,600 points. At least do the math.

Underneath he then writes about his new rank: “At least I am now where I belong”.

So much for cheating in ranked play. What do you think of the developer crackdown? Will this change anything, or will there just be more rogue players who will continue to happily disconnect when things go badly for them? Let us know what you think here in the comments.
