Planets Starcraft – Tarsonis

Tarsonis

On the planet Tarsonis landed the gigantic supercarrier Nagglfar, one of the four colony ships carrying Terrans to the Koprulu sector. Because the Nagglfar had led the flotilla, on board was the supercomputer ATLAS, which had guided all four ships on their eighty-two-year voyage. Although ATLAS suffered many critical system failures, it gave the people of Tarsonis the decisive edge over the other colonies in colonizing their planet..

The technological developments of the other settlements founded after the ships crashed on Moria and Umoja always lagged behind those of Tarsonis. The last of the four ships was lost with all occupants in its attempt to land. When the colonies contacted each other sixty years later, Tarsonis was the most prosperous and most advanced.
All three colonies had also spread to other planets and each had developed a self-sufficient economic system. Tarsonis was the first to push for a common government. Considering the likely dominance of Tarsonis in such an accord, Moria and Umoja adamantly refused.

The ruling families on Tarsonis responded by expanding their military power and adopting a more aggressive colonization policy. They formed the Terran Confederation and eventually clashed with the Morians, leading to the Guild Wars. Four cruel years of war followed, in which the Confederacy emerged victorious and “negotiated” an unequal peace treaty with the Kel-Moria Combine. As a result, the Confederacy secured its position as the greatest power in the sector, and Tarsonis became the central seat of government and economic power for the association. In theory, each of the Confederacy’s planets had their own senators, but in fact the Confederacy was governed from the bustling metropolis of Tarsonis City, the capital of Tarsonis.

Tarsonis had a mild climate and the Terrans had spread rapidly, establishing cities and industries on its surface. At the height of the Confederacy’s power, large sums of money and building materials were brought in from the colonies on a daily basis. The planet’s economic boom dwarfed that of the other terran worlds in the Koprulu sector, and Tarsoni’s population grew exponentially. Increasingly greedy and corrupt, the dynasty of the ruling families of Tarsonis continued to accumulate personal wealth and compete for power. As the gap between rich and poor widened, dissatisfaction and open defiance swept the Confederacy planets. The ruling families increasingly resorted to violent measures, to keep the colonies under their control. When Korhal IV attempted to gain independence from Confederate rule, they eventually bombarded the planet with nuclear missiles, wiping out virtually all life on Korhal IV.

The outcry over the destruction of Korhal eventually laid the foundations for the Confederacy’s downfall. Arcturus Mengsk founded the Sons of Korhal and rose from leader of this terrorist organization to leader of a full-fledged interplanetary rebellion. When the Zerg invasion swept the sector, the Confederacy was already struggling to survive. As the Swarm invaded Terran space, the Sons of Korhal took the opportunity to deal the killing blow to the Confederacy. Despite fierce fighting, Tarsonis was overrun by the Zerg and completely devastated. An estimated two billion people died. Shortly thereafter, the Zerg left the planet for unknown reasons.

In the aftermath of the Zerg invasion, the Sons of Korhal rallied what was left of the Confederacy and formed the Terran League, ruled by the newly appointed Emperor Arcturus Mengsk. Tarsonian refugees were taken in by other planets and the planet itself was not colonized again. The Terran League has placed Tarsonis under strict quarantine, and League salvage teams are combing the rubble for Confederate technology and military secrets that may have survived the attack. Despite everything, Emperor Mengsk has made a promise to the scattered refugees of his once prosperous planet: Tarsonis will be rebuilt and the League will lead the planet into a brighter future.

History

The story of Starcraft is getting more and more extensive. Already the first part and the expansion Brood War offer a lot of reading material. In addition, there are numerous Starcraft books. With Starcraft II, the story is expanded significantly. On this page we offer a lot of information about the complete Starcraft story. How the three races were created is listed here in chapters. This starts with the chronicles of Starcraft 1 and goes all the way to the campaigns of Starcraft 2.

In our summary of the Starcraft 2 prehistory we have listed information from fairs and other sources.

If you would like to know what happened in certain time intervals, our Starcraft timeline is just right for you. The most important events are listed there.

Protoss Tribes

Although the Khala demand that the Protoss abandon their old tribal communities and accept the new castes of Judicators, Templars and Khalai, many still cling to the customs and relics of the old traditions. The various tribes remain intact only to serve as a cautionary reminder of the mistakes of the old Protoss. With the rise of the Judicators as the ruling caste over all Protoss, the old dilemma of separatist tendencies and tribal claims is no longer a threat to the community as a whole. The most important aspect that has survived from ancient times is that each Protoss tribe has its own unique skin color, which can range from mottled grays to a deep blue.

Terran Factions

Starcraft History | Protoss Tribes | Terran Factions | Zerg Races Each of the various Terran military factions benefits from the advanced hardware and weaponry produced by the colonies in the Koprulu sector. Numerous factions modify their weapons based on the particular characteristics or preferences of their fighting troops. Most Terran tanks, aircraft, and war machines were developed and produced by private corporations, but the plans and technical blueprints for them have since been stolen, smuggled out, and bartered away, ending up in the hands of scientists from a wide variety of political factions and groups.

Zerg Races

Little is known about the various races that make up Zerg swarms. Terran scientists have begun to document and classify some of the larger races that have ravaged their colonies. What seems clear is that each particular race/breed is descended from a unique Cerebrate that carries out the commands of the Overmind. Each cerebrate has the power to build its own brood to carry out its tasks. While it is difficult to distinguish one brood from another, Terran scouts believe they have found that they vary in functionality and purpose. It is considered proven that certain races work so closely together as if they were intertwined extensions of a larger tactical force. Terran researchers have given the races names of monsters from ‘ancient Earth’ mythology.
