Pay2Win in CS:GO seemed impossible

In there is obviously no Pay2Win. Everyone uses the same weapons on the same maps. Thus, there are no buyable gameplay advantages per se that give you, for example, better aiming. However, a YouTuber has now found out through his tests that there might be some Pay2Win in the Steam shooter that nobody knew about so far.

– Where? Anyone familiar with Counter Strike: Global Offensive knows that Pay2Win is almost impossible. There are no boosters or power ups that you can buy with real money to gain advantages in matches.

You can only buy skins for weapons and operators that give you a cosmetic advantage over other players. That would be all, but a YouTuber took a look at the skins of the agents in particular and noticed that something is wrong. Some agents get more bullets than others.

Inconsistencies were found in the hitboxes

What are hitboxes? In shooters, there are invisible boxes or oval nets that surround every part of your character’s body. Developers use them so that shots, stabs, or any other violent impact on your character can be registered.

Without such boxes, your agent in CS:GO would be able to keep running blithely even in a hail of bullets, as he would not notice the shots. The problem with such hitboxes, however, is that they are prone to errors. Variations in the size of the hitboxes make it either easier or harder for you to get hit by bullets.

What was found? For all the players who don’t understand Russian, the YouTuber tested all the known skins of the agents in his test. The hitboxes were put under the microscope to see if there are any deviations.

In his tests, he found that there are indeed agents that have a much smaller hitbox than others. There is even talk here of a 16.75 percent smaller hitbox. That’s a big difference that can make the difference between life and death in matches.

Ansimist himself said, “I’ve always believed that CS:GO uses the same hitbox sizes for all character models, but it turns out that some balance issues exist. I think this size difference is unacceptable for a competitive FPS like CS:GO. This problem has existed for seven years, since the Reanimated hitbox update in 2015.”

In doing so, the YouTuber draws attention to the fact that this problem has existed for so long and no one has noticed it. You can’t leave it in like this in such an important competitive game. Players could seize the advantage through this realization and thus have higher chances of winning in tournaments.

What do you think about CS:GO having some Pay2Win after all, making it easier to survive a gunfight or two? Let us know in the comments!
