Games tactical shooter Valorant is still relatively fresh and many players are wondering: What is the Riot ID? We explain – and also how to find and change it.

As is common these days, almost all games require a launcher, be it Steam, Origin, Uplay or similar. of Legends developer also has its own launcher that requires you to log in with a Riot account.

How do I get a Riot ID?

When you create a Riot account, a Riot ID is also created. This can be the same as the username of your Riot account, but it doesn’t have to be. It consists of the name displayed in-game, followed by a hashtag and a tagline – these consist of three to five numbers or letters that are not displayed in-game. The hashtag and the numbers or letters make it possible for multiple players to get their desired name, since even if the name is the same, the tagline can be different. So the Riot ID looks like this: [In-Game-Name]#[Tagline].

As already mentioned, only the selected name is displayed in the game itself, but in the friends list the complete Riot ID is displayed, which is also necessary to find a certain player and add him to his friends list.

Those who have already played and thus have a summoner name will initially receive this name combined with a tagline as their Riot ID. If you change your summoner name, you also change your Riot ID. However, if you change your Riot ID, you will have two different names from now on and will keep the Riot ID as soon as Riot Games changes everything to Riot IDs.

Where can I find the Riot ID and how can I change it?

The Riot ID can be easily found in the account settings on Riot Games official site. Here you can also change it once every 30 days. Just enter a new player name and click on Randomize in the tagline. This way you make sure that you get the name you want. You can also create your own tagline to make it easier to remember the complete Riot ID. Depending on the chosen name and tagline, it may take a few tries to find a unique combination.

What does the Riot ID mean?

As Riot Games has announced, the Riot ID will apply to all Riot Games games in the future. So once the switch happens, every player will have a cross-game Riot ID in LoL, Valorant, Legends of Runeterra or Wild Rift. This will make it easier to find and add friends, as you won’t have to search in each game individually.

However, it could also be the undoing of hackers. Valorant’s anti-cheat program Vanguard has already banned many cheaters and hackers in the closed beta – with so-called soul bans. This type of ban locks the entire system, as it works with hardware detection. As some banned players found out, Riot Games has taken over the bans from the beta phase into the freshly launched game. It is also rumored that Riot will transfer such bans to other games in the future. This would mean that a player who is banned for cheating in Valorant will also be banned in LoL etc. – which is of course simplified by a cross-game Riot ID.

So be fair, spare yourself the Soul Ban and have fun with Valorant. All other news and updates about Valorant, such as the new Spike Rush mode, can be found on EarlyGame.

What are Patchnotes?

What is Valorant?

Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.

Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.

The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.

Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
