Valorant’s patch 1.05 is here and all expectations have been confirmed. Killjoy, Deathmatch a new Battle Pass, Glitchpop skins, changes for the Ranked system and nerfs for Raze!
With patch 1.05, Act I of Valorant is now behind us and Act II brings a number of changes. Anyone who has been playing ranked games will experience a gentle rank reset. Killjoy was hinted at last month, so there are no surprises there. Deathmatch mode is there to give you a good warm-up before diving into a normal game. And last but not least, Raze Nerfs!
Let’s take a direct look at all the major changes coming with Valorant’s patch 1.05!
Agent updates
KILLJOY
- A new mission has been added, which unlocks Killjoy and its associated rewards.
Killjoy is finally here! You can check out her abilities on our site.
RAZE
Full tube
- Equipment time increased 1.1 >>> 1.4 seconds
- Fast equipment time increased 0.5 >>> 0.7 seconds
- Graphic effects when firing missiles reduced
- Graphic effects on rocket tail slightly reduced
Explosive pack
- Damage reduced 75 >>> 50
- Damage to objects now constant at 600
So Raze is getting annoyed again? Well, yes and no. “Full barrel” will be harder to hear, but equipment time will be increased. “Explosive Pack” loses 33% of its damage, but dealing high amounts of damage was never the real purpose behind this ability.
Changes to the Ranked System
- Act ranks have been added to the game; you can learn more about them here.
- With patch 1.05, Act I rated matches end – Act II begins.
- In rated matchmaking, there is now a higher probability of solo and solo/duo players competing against similarly sized groups. In return, queues will be slightly longer.
- The rank indicators on defeat have been adjusted so that you now better understand how your rank has changed. There are the following gradations:
- Rank slightly worsened (1 arrow down)
- Rating worsened (2 arrows down)
- Ranking significantly worsened (3 arrows down)
- The match history now shows the rank you started the match with instead of the rank you finished it with.
- You can now view your friends’ history pages from the context menu in the Social window. This means you can access your friends’ ranks, act ranks, and match history.
- In custom matches, the leader can now set the target position for resupply and see which players are pinging them.
GAME MODI
Deathmatch is here! Here you can hone your shooting skills or warm up before you dare to play rated matches.
- 10 players “each against each”.
- The first with 30 kills within 6 minutes wins.
- No skills.
- You enter as a random agent from your portfolio.
- You can buy all the weapons you want. Heavy shields are given to you automatically.
- Kills of enemies grant you health boxes. Picking one up will fully restore your health/shields AND reload your weapon.
- All enemies are revealed periodically on the mini-map.
- Deathmatch is in beta. Availability will be limited to specific time windows after the release of 1.05. The first window will start on Wednesday, August 5.
So Deathmatch will be playable starting today. Also, you can now watch your friends’ gameplay and make fun of them. We think that’s great! Overall, the patch has brought exactly what we expected. You can find the full changes, including all bugs and “quality of life” improvements, on the official Valorant page.

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
