Riot’s tactical shooter Valorant has just received the new map Breeze with patch 2.08. Now, data miners have uncovered a “downed” mechanic that could be used in an upcoming Battle Royale mode.
The number of playable modes in Valorant has increased over the past year since the game came out of closed beta. There’s the regular bomb game (Ranked and Unranked), Deathmatch, Spike Rush, and Escalation. So what could be next? Obviously, a battle royale. At least that’s what the latest leaks lead us to believe.
What is Valorant’s “Downed” mechanic?
Prominent Valorant data miner ValorLeaks has revealed that there is a new mechanic in the game files.
What is the “Downed” mechanic? Such a mechanic exists in many Battle Royale games like Fortnite, Apex Legends and others. When a teammate loses all their health, they don’t die, but instead get “downed”, so they lie down. In this state, they can’t fight back and have limited mobility. The “Downed” mechanic in Valorant is supposed to work very similarly:
- “Downed” health: 100HP.
- Max. Time: 15 seconds
- After resurrection you have 50HP.
- You can resurrect from 2m distance.
- Resurrection lasts 2 seconds
This means that everyone will be able to revive a lying teammate and not only Sage as in the regular modes.
Will Valorant have a Battle Royale mode?
The first and logical thought here is that Riot is already testing a possible Battle Royale mode for Valorant. This wouldn’t be too far-fetched, as a Battle Royale mode for Valorant has been in the rumor mill in the past, but was never officially confirmed by Riot Games.
If that is indeed the case, Valorant has enough agents and abilities to make a future Battle Royale mode interesting. What do you guys think? Would a battle royale mode work in Valorant? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter!

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
