Valorant Episode 3 Act 1 is live and we have already seen the full patch notes for 3.00. What exactly is the new account level advancement feature? Here’s everything you need to know!
Valorant Patch 3.00 introduced a lot of balance changes and tweaks to the game’s economy. It also balanced the dreaded run-and-gun mechanic and introduced account level advancement. But what exactly is account level advancement? We are here to explain everything to you.
What is account level advancement in Valorant?
Perhaps the first and most obvious question is: “What is account level advancement?”. The answer to this has nothing to do with boosting, as it is simply a fancy way to show your progress in the game and reward you for playing the game. Not bad, right? There are various items that you can earn by simply leveling up your account as much as possible.
Account level advancement was first revealed as an upcoming feature with the YR1 Events and Rewards blog post.
What do the numbers above my player card mean?
The number above your player card represents your level and gets bigger the more you play the game, giving you better rewards at the end of the act. With update 3.00, account leveling is already active in Valorant, and players have already noticed a few changes to the interface. Among the most obvious ones are the numbers above the player card.
It all makes sense, doesn’t it?
What are CPs in Valorant?
You may also be wondering, “What the heck are CPs?”. KP is short for account points, and it’s simply the kind of experience points you get from playing to level up your account. You need 5,000 KP to level up your account once. Here are some ways to earn KP:
- You earn KP by playing matches.
- The amount of KP you earn in the match is based on the duration and the match score.
- You will receive bonus KP for the first win of the day.
Note that KP only counts towards your account level and does not give you extra rewards in the form of Battle Pass levels or contracts. If you haven’t played in a while, don’t worry: Riot has added KP retroactively based on how much you’ve played so far.

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
