’s current patch 1.09 has a lot going for it. With changes to five agents, a nerf of the operators and much more, the meta could be turned upside down.

As announced, patch 1.09 was released yesterday on the Valorant live servers. It includes operator nerfs and numerous changes to the agents, especially Viper!

Agent updates

Omen

Paranoia

  • Updated projectile graphic effects to better match the hit zone (especially when flying towards the player camera).

Jett

Blade Storm (Fire Blast)

  • Increased the time between successive bursts of fire: 0.33 seconds >>> 0.45 seconds.
  • Daggers thrown over Fire Strikes now lose damage from 12 yards away, dropping to a minimum of 35 damage at maximum range.
  • The headshot multiplier of the fire blasts has been decreased: 3x >>> 2x

The Jett nerf might seem a bit excessive for some. However, some players also used the fire burst to make the kills at long range. With the changes, the fire burst should now be used mainly for short distances.

Viper

Fuel

  • Viper now starts the round with 100 fuel (previously 50)

Contamination

  • The Vulnerable debuff applied by Contamination now lasts 2 seconds after a player leaves Viper’s Acid.

Snake Pit

  • Movement speed doubled when cast.
  • Viper now equips her faster after casting. Actual time varies by weapon, but on average Viper is now unarmed 0.4 seconds shorter.

With the changes, Riot seamlessly ties in with the changes from patch 1.07. According to the company’s own statement, the agent was improved, but as a result could not bring enough influence to the game. As the “ugly duckling” of all agents, Viper still has a niche existence. The renewed buffs are supposed to further increase her popularity.

Reyna

Empress

  • Fire rate bonus has been reduced: 25% >>> 15%.

The slight changes to her Ulti may not necessarily be a nerf, depending on the weapon you play. This gives the player options to better control recoil.

Brimstone

Stim Pack

  • The fire rate bonus of Stim Pack has been increased: 10% >>> 15%.

Brimstone’s Stim Pack is generally considered the most useless ability in the game. With the renewed buff, its impact should be increased.

Weapons Updates

Operator

  • Price increased: 4.500 >>> 5.000
  • The movement speed when aiming has been decreased: 76% >>> 72%.
  • The dead zone of the weapon now becomes inaccurate instead of at 30% movement speed at >>> 15 % movement speed (it becomes inaccurate earlier and becomes accurate again later). inaccurate and becomes accurate again later)
  • Fire rate reduced: 0.75 >>> 0.6
  • instant equip time adjusted from 0.3 >>> 0.5 (instant equip happens after conquering a sphere, placing/unfolding the spike (both tap), Jett’s Cloudburst and Phoenix’s Nasty Throw)
  • Damage on shots to the legs reduced: 127 >>> 120

As we reported in advance, the operator nerf is finally a reality. Nevertheless, it remains one of the strongest weapons in the game. The small changes in terms of handling should only have a marginal impact on gameplay. The biggest impact here is likely to be the price increase.

Concerning all weapons

  • Changed inaccuracy state when landing after jump: Stepwise >>> Either/Or
  • Inaccuracy condition during landing after jump prolonged: 0,2 >>> 0,225
  • Inaccuracy condition on landing after jump increased: 5.0 >>> 7.0 (0.225 seconds after landing inaccurate)

With the changes, each weapon is now significantly more inaccurate shortly after landing.

Other changes

Updates to the rated mode

  • As part of this patch, the chances of queues lasting more than an hour have been noticeably reduced.

Social Updates

  • Players reported for using an inappropriate Riot ID will now be checked immediately after the game is over
  • Multiple line breaks in chat removed
  • Changes to push-to-talk settings are now applied immediately
  • Chat window can now be pinned to stay open in all menus
  • Sorting logic of the “Social” window has been updated and is now more intuitive

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where Sova’s hit zone was incorrect when using his owl drone.
  • Fixed a bug where Omen’s glowing eyes were not removed as intended when he cancelled his ult.
  • Fixed a bug where custom game settings were deleted after the player left the custom game lobby.

Patch 1.09 mainly tries to get more balance into the game. Weaker agents have been buffed, others have been generated in isolated cases. Will Viper finally become a viable agent?

What are Patchnotes?

What is Valorant?

Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.

Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.

The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.

Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
