One little cheat and it’s over. Riot Games has declared from the beginning that it will show no mercy for cheaters. With the specially made anti-cheat software Vanguard, they are now also cracking down – and the consequences could even go far beyond Valorant.
Is this the new age in the eternal war of game developers against cheaters? Possibly. Because Riot Games is slowly unleashing its full force in the fight against hackers. Cheaters being banned and having their accounts suspended is a common occurrence, but rarely are they deterred like this. After all, new accounts can be created. But that’s over now.
Riot has created so-called “soulbans”, which virtually deactivate all of a cheater’s hardware for Valorant. It doesn’t help to make a new account – not to mention that you would also need a beta key for it. Over 8,000 hackers have already been removed from the beta, and the number is growing.
The cry of the cheaters
“I spent sooo much money on this shit and now I get banned? WTF?!?” or “GG Riot! I didn’t even cheat in real games, just five minutes in practice mode!”. These are just some of the few comments that detected cheaters respond to the banned account with. Sure, it’s hard to use a cheat for just two minutes in practice mode, i.e. not sabotaging a match, and then still get banned. But why cheat at all? What added value do hackers generate from two minutes of cheating in practice mode? Exactly, none.
And now all hackers out there have to be very strong: Riot is thinking about extending the soulbans to other games. This would mean that whoever cheats on Valorant will be banned there and also for all other Riot titles such as League of Legends – as long as an account exists there as well.
At the moment, soulbans only apply to Valorant, but that could change at any time. If that doesn’t make the hardest hacker sweat with fear…
Basically, a harsher punishment for cheaters is good, because it makes the gaming experience of all non-hackers much more pleasant. Fair play, after all. And if there is a risk of losing so much just to win in a match through a cheat, that might deter many. 1:0 for Riot Games.

What are Patchnotes?
Patchnotes are specially designed to appear only in the appropriate places.
What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
