Fast and deadly, just like a ninja – that’s how the world-famous streamer has been acting in the game Fortnite for years. But now he’s entering new territory: Ninja will take part in the upcoming Valorant Ignition event. But what about Fortnite?
It was an announcement we weren’t expecting: T1 has announced a new roster for their T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown. The tournament is part of the official Valorant Ignition Series, created by Riot. And this now announced roster has a very specific captain: Ninja – arguably the most famous streamer and influencer from the Esports industry. What’s special about it is that the internet celebrity actually belongs to a completely different game: Fortnite. But here he is, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, ready to lead his team to victory in the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown.
More and more streamers and pro players have already switched to the new tactical shooter from Riot, including Sinatraa, the reigning Overwatch champion. Will Ninja now also leave Fortnite behind? Officially, he hasn’t announced anything of the sort yet. And although he likes to criticize his game (some weapons are pointless, the Aim-Assists are Aim-Bots, etc.), we don’t think Ninja will be unfaithful to Fortnite in the long run. However, the streamer is currently facing several changes, including the demise of his current streaming platform, Mixer, from Microsoft.
Whatever Ninja’s distant Esports future may look like, this weekend he and his team will be competing in the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown. A total of 16 rosters will compete here, vying for the $50,000 first-place prize. By the way, this is not Ninja’s first Valorant visit. He had already participated in the Lof x DTS Invitational Series before and made it to the quarterfinals.
The inaugural North American Valorant Ignition Series begins this Friday, June 26, and runs through the 28th.

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
