Things are going pretty well for the community at the moment. A new patch, the announced revisions, the ongoing Valorant Championship Tour, rumors of a console port of the game…. and now a completely new tournament mode is supposed to come.

Back in June 2021, we got our hints about a possible new tournament mode in Valorant through a tweet from a game designer at . With the recently released patch notes for update 3.03, some leaks also appeared… and it seems that the new competitive mode is coming sooner than thought. But what does this mode mean for Valorant and its community now? Will the Valorant Championship Tour and its immense prize money be easier to reach now? We’ll show you what new features you need to be prepared for!

Valorant Patch 3.03: Tournament Mode Leaks

Probably one of the most well-known Valorant influencers, RumbleMike, was able to dig up some information about the upcoming tournament mode from Valorant’s game data. He finally published his discoveries on Twitter:

Patch Notes - Leak: Valorant gets new tournament modeIf the leaks are indeed true, Valorant would get another real boost in the FPS scene. What the mentioned ‘high stakes’ mean for the mode, we can’t estimate yet. Could there perhaps be entry fees? The possibility of simply earning real money with the new mode seems rather unlikely to us. Of course, the prize money could also consist of Valorant Points…. but who knows? For now we can only wait and see, but obviously we don’t have to wait too long.

Will the tournament mode replace the VCT Circuit?

Before the leaks came out, most of the community believed that Valorant’s tournament mode could be similar to ’ Clash mode – thus it would have no connection to mainstream Esports. But what do we think about it now?

At the moment, we can only speculate about it…. but it looks like Valorant’s new tournament mode will be much more competitive than LoL’s Clash. But will it become a competitor to the VCT Circuit? We still doubt it. However, the mode has a chance to create some serious buzz in the Valorant Esports scene. While we will continue to see the big names like Fnatic, TSM or Team Envy in the big competitions, the innovation will now give previously unknown players or streamers the opportunity to prove themselves on the big stage. At the same time, this is also a chance for you: with good performances, it could be easier for everyone to find their way into a tournament team from now on…

What is Valorant?

Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.

Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.

The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.

Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
