In Fortnite today, July 18, the servers go down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance will be used to upload the new update 21.30 to the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.
What’s happening in Fortnite today? This time you can expect a patch. The servers will be taken offline for maintenance and the new patch 21.30.
The patch brings new skins, wild weapons and possibly changes to the map. To make sure you don’t miss anything, we will update this article regularly throughout the day for you.Update 5:49 pm: The update can be downloaded and this amounts to 2.426 GB on the PS5. Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long will it be offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: The servers are expected to go down at 10:00 AM our time to install update 21.30. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before that, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds after 9:30.
When will you be able to play again? The servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance work and playing is then no longer possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This is what the updates of the past weeks have shown.
During such maintenance work there can always be technical problems, bugs and delays. In case of such complications, we will immediately report them here.
When are the patch notes coming? Epic Games has been releasing little to no patch notes for quite some time. However, members of the community usually search for and find the changes quickly. However, if there are still important changes, we will also add them to the article for you.
What new content brings update 21.30?
What’s new for Battle Royale mode? We don’t know anything concrete yet, but leakers have often presented themselves as a safe source with their predictions. The following things have already been leaked:
New summer skins – Leak
Epic Games hasn’t forgotten about the summer event and is bringing some cool skins to the BR shooter to mark the occasion. These will be made available over time either through challenges or the item store.
New weapons and items – Leak
The summer update also brings a new shotgun and item to the game. Whether these will be accessible after the server down is not yet known.
New Crew Pack Pickaxe
Players will be able to upgrade a pickaxe in their crew pack, according to Shiina. How and when this will happen is not yet known.
Summer Event Items – Leak
The summer event also brings some items that you can earn for free. This year, according to Shiina, a hang glider is one of them. We’ll know more after the downtime.

New weapon – first shot shotgun
This is the new shotgun
The First shot shotgun Deals the most damage with the first shot after it has been completely reloaded! While the remaining three shots are not as powerful as the first, the damage from all three shells is the same. Of course, you can always check the ammo gauge to see how many shots you have left, but you can also get this information from the lights on the side of the shotgun.

This – Season ‘s super level styles have received an update! You can now select the “Platinum Crack”, “Blue Slurp”, and “Aura Shine” styles on all other variants of Malik, Evie, Adira, Sabina, and Stormrunner.
Contest Notes
- The first-shot shotgun is not available in competitive game modes.
- “Zero Build” Arena now has shield stealing. When you eliminate a player, you immediately receive 50 shield points.
Important bug fixes
- Fixed a bug where pocket tears did not produce a tear and were still consumed. This bug occurred when switching items too early while activating the pocket tear.
- Fixed a bug where weapon crosshairs changed size according to the HUD size.
- Fixed a bug in Group Wedges that prevented players from using tents.
- Fixed a bug on Nintendo Switch where players would freeze after sliding or climbing.
- Fixed a bug in competitive game modes where storm sickness would reset when performing a restart on a team member.
- Fixed via hotfix on July 12, 2022:
- Fixed a bug that reset player sound settings to 0.
- Fixed a bug where player settings were not saved correctly.
