In Fortnite today, August 30, the servers go down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance will be used to upload the new update 21.50 to the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.
What’s happening in Fortnite today? This time you can expect a patch. The servers will be taken offline for maintenance and the new patch 21.50.
The patch brings new skins, wild weapons and possibly changes to the map. To make sure you don’t miss anything, we at MeinMMO will update this article regularly throughout the day for you.
Update 12:00: You will now be completely banned from Fortnite and will have to download the update file. It amounts to 2.309 GB on the PS5. After the download, you can finally log in. We have updated you with all the leaks and patch notes.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long will it be offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: The servers are expected to go down at 10:00 am German time to install update 21.50. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before that, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds after 9:30.
When can you play again? The servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance work and playing is then no longer possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This is what the updates of the past weeks have shown.
During such maintenance work there can always be technical problems, bugs and delays. If such complications occur, we will report them here immediately.
When are the patch notes coming? Epic Games has been releasing little to no patch notes for quite some time. However, members of the community often search for and find the changes quickly. However, if there are important changes, we add them to the article for you.
What new content does update 21.50 bring?
What’s new for Battle Royale mode? We don’t know anything concrete yet, but leakers have often presented themselves as a safe source with their predictions. Epic Games has published these patch notes:
“Shadows of Phantasm” Week
Epic Games once again provides you with cool silenced weapons from the Vault as well as gadgets that will help you fight like a shadow. Additionally, you’ll receive quests that will push your Battle Pass by quite a bit and reward you with XP. You have from August 30 to September 7 to complete the tasks.
Dragon Ball does not stop yet
The collaboration between Fortnite and Dragonball is over, but anime items are still appearing on your battlefield. So if you want to make a quick escape with a cloud or pulverize your opponents with a Kamehame Ha, you still have the chance now.
No more impostor mode
Fortnite has now officially removed the impostor mode and shipped it to the Vault. Epic Games said they want to focus their attention on ongoing projects, so they thank so many players for enjoying the mode. Whether the mode will ever return is uncertain.
Contest Notes
- The changes of the “Shadow of Phantasma” week will be included in the competitive game modes as well.
- The Late Game Arena will begin later today. For more information, check out our Late Game Arena blog post.
- The Zero Build Arena has been deactivated.
Important bug fixes
- Fixed a bug where the condition and shield bars did not match the correct values after damage was taken.
- Fixed a bug where the Kamehame Ha would recharge to three full charges when dropped by an eliminated player.
- The fire mode option “Own Button” on mobile devices now works properly. When the option is disabled, the custom fire button is automatically hidden in-game if the context allows it.
- If the equipped weapon/item does not support the currently selected fire mode (example: a melee weapon cannot auto-fire), the custom fire button will still be displayed.
These changes have been published by leakers:
Say goodbye to impostor mode
Fortnite leaker Shiina as well as other trusted insiders announce that after patch 21.50, Impostor mode will be pushed to the content vault. So you won’t be able to play impostor mode for a long time after the downtime.
New skins for the item store
Fortnite is once again bringing cool new skins and dances to the item store. These include some iconic items, dances, and even a Pride skin.
Double Jump coming soon to Fortnite?
A new symbol for visualized sounds was also found in the data, which indicates that you will soon even be able to double jump. When or how this new feature will be implemented in Fortnite is not yet known.
What do you think about the constant updates that fill Fortnite with new content? Do you think it’s good that Epic Games is always providing a breath of fresh air, or do you think it’s bad that modes like the impostor mode are shoved into the vault? Let us know in the comments!
