Volskaya, Volskaya, throw the glasses against the wall. Let’s set the map on fire. Wohohohooo!” Russia calls, we follow and brave the freezing cold for an exciting round of point conquering. Find out what you need to keep in mind in our map guide.
Russia was one of the first nations to be affected by the Omnic Crisis, and it was particularly severe. To counter the threat, the countries all came up with different measures – Russia, for example, relied on the production of huge and human-controlled mechs – the Sylvatogors. The company Volskaya Industries was responsible for this, and it revived its mech production at the beginning of the second Omnic crisis. The most important production facility near St. Petersburg wants to be protected at all costs. The attackers gain access to the factory via two capture cap zones to destroy the machines, the defenders try to prevent exactly that. Our map overview is divided into four sections with numerous subsections; you can use the following table of contents to jump directly to the point that interests you.
Overwatch: Volskaya Industries
Volskaya Industries is a map of the category point capture. The attacking team has to capture two of these cap zones. The defenders, on the other hand, do everything they can to stop the aggressors from doing so. The number of special hotspots is comparatively manageable: The hottest battles actually take place at the two conquest points, while the situation in the zones in between is usually relatively calm. If the attacking tem is on its way to point B, the defenders usually try to dig in and welcome the approaching invaders with a barrage.
Overwatch: Volskaya Industries – Start Zone
Volskaya Industries: Point 1 – Sneak across the water
The centrally located archway is by no means the only way for the attacking team to get into the courtyard or to the point A to be captured. Heroes like Pharah, Reaper, or even Genji can use special skills like hover jets, double jump (+storm strike!), or teleportation to cross the watery chasm along the back of the building, thus bypassing the entire forecourt and stabbing the defenders in the back.
Volskaya Industries: Point 2 – Doctor up if necessary!
Even before the passage to the courtyard, there are plenty of medipacks. A large one, for example, you will find on the left edge of the map, right next to the shortcut mentioned in point 1, another in the building along the right path. A third, but small medipack lies in the middle of the centrally located building.
Volskaya Industries: Point 3 – Through the gate into the courtyard
The majority of the attacking heroes must pass under the archway: Watch out for bastions and guns standing in the corners as well as self-propelled grenades placed against the wall and, of course, sneaky snipers – tanks like Reinhardt are worth their weight in gold here! The attacking team, on the other hand, can provide action with snipers, for example from the dome roof of the central building or from the balcony on the right side of the map. The ‘window to the courtyard’ also gives you a good view of the action behind the wall, and you can also aim far into the defender zone from the left side (by the medipack).
Volskaya Industries: Point 4 – Over the right side
The target of the attacker’s desire is, of course, in the middle of the courtyard. Still, you’ll sometimes do well to flank the target zone and take out defenders lurking in the side corridors before you or your colleagues take point A. To the right after the archway, a door leads inside the adjacent building and down a staircase into the hallway, which just gives snipers and Bastions a terrific view of the courtyard. Just be careful not to rush in blindly. The door frames lend themselves perfectly to being plastered full of Symmetra’s selfies.
Volskaya Industries: Point 5 – Over the Left Side
Also on the left, a side corridor under the protection of a building will lead you to the back of the courtyard to be conquered if you wish, and will end on a terrace from where you can reach the other side via a bridge, but also have a clear field of fire into the courtyard. Just keep in mind that you won’t have any cover once you leave the building. In principle, the same applies here as in point 4: Don’t run blindly through every door, pay attention to your surroundings. But: In contrast to the corridor on the right side of the zone, you won’t necessarily encounter respawning defenders from this direction, but rather isolated opponents like snipers.
Volskaya Industries: Point 6 – Beware of guns!
You always have to watch out for guns like bastions, of course. They, and of course Torbjörn’s turret, are especially likely to be placed in the small shed in the middle of the courtyard adjacent to the cap zone. The advantage: Through the window and thanks to the red border you can see beforehand if there’s anything deadly lurking in the hovel. Of course, you also have to pay attention to the two terraces at the back of the courtyard. A little tip: As a bastion, it’s best to stand directly on the medipack lying in the corner!
Overwatch: Volskaya Industries – Conquest Point B
Volskaya Industries: Point 7 – The courtyard between Cap Zone A and B
As mentioned at the beginning, there are hardly any skirmishes in the area between point A and B, and if there are, they tend to be runaways. There are several paths to the finish: One leads along the outer left side, including the transport platforms moving in circles if you wish. The most obvious path, on the other hand, leads you directly through the courtyard to the main gate.
Volskaya Industries: Point 8 – Storm the Hall
To get to the production hall with capture point B, you basically have four options: One way, as already mentioned, is using the platforms to go over the wall on the left, and another is through the main entrance. To the right of it there is an elevator, next to which there is another corridor that will take you to the outer right side of the defenders’ area. Should you decide to use the main gate, then ideally storm the hall on the side of a tank – the defenders will welcome you with snipers and guns.
Volskaya Industries: Point 9 – Sneak across the outer right side
The way around to the right is primarily suitable for heroes like Pharah, Widowmaker, Reaper or Genji. Heroes who can bridge the chasm between the platform and the railing, and thus stab the defenders in the back or flank, respectively. Use this opportunity to hunt down snipers and guns that will attack your stormtroopers from a supposedly safe distance. As a defender, on the other hand, you would do well to look to the right and left to avoid being caught completely cold.
Volskaya Industries: Point 10 – Left sneak path
The circular platforms are not only there to cross the wall on the left side of the main entrance, they serve as a perfect location for heroes like Bastion and Torbjörn (and his guns, respectively). Of course, you are unprotected on the carriers, but in return hardly anyone expects that a turret sowing death and destruction will suddenly come around the corner and make a run for it. Apart from that, you can also flank the defenders at ground level.
Volskaya Industries: Point 11 – Defend Conquest Point B
The bridge with its sloping parapet is a perfect spot for snipers and guns. The latter can also position themselves in the corners below and thus keep directly in the direction of the main entrance, or use the small buildings to the side of the area to fish out passing attackers. Just remember not to leave the corridor between respawn points and the final end zone completely unguarded, so that the attackers don’t surprise you.
Overwatch Maps
In Overwatch, heroes fight in a variety of locations around the world. From the technological wonder Numbani to the production center Volskaya, each map has its own layout and very specific conditions that your team must fulfill in order to win.
The battles of the heroes of Overwatch will be fought on the various maps. At the same time, the locations differ not only because of their scenery, but also their modes.
If you want to play successfully in Overwatch, you need to know not only the heroes, but also their surroundings. After all, the different maps offer a variety of flanks to stab the enemy team in the back, in addition to the main path. However, not all of them are suitable for everyone. We’ll also show you the most popular places for snipers and where turrets like to hide. Knowing the position of the medipacks is also a big advantage in the battle. We will show you all this in our detailed map guides. For a better overview, we have divided the maps into the three game modes. We’ll start with point capture and then move on to cargo transport/escort and control.
