Overwatch celebrates its fourth anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, we’re introducing brand new extras, including new legendary skins like Masquerade for Reaper, Dragoness for Mercy, Little Red Riding Hood for Ashe, and more! More epic rewards await you in the weekly anniversary challenges, such as Carbon Fiber for Sigma, Fleur de Lis for Widowmaker, and Desperado for McCree. Missed out on the Overwatch celebrations over the past few years? Don’t worry, you can unlock the extras from past events with credits or find them in Lootboxes! Jump back into exciting – Season al brawls from the past in the Arcade. A different Brawl will be available every day during the Anniversary Event.

GENERAL UPDATES

Feature update: Improved communication menu

We’ve added many more communication options to help you customize your interactions in Overwatch. You can find the settings under Options > Controls in the “Communication Menu” section. Here you can choose from 26 options that you can assign to the sectors of your menu. The selection and arrangement can be changed at any time. So you can still ask for healing, but now you can also communicate that you’re on the move or that your teammates should go on the attack.

  • New options are now available for the communication menu.
  • The keyboard shortcuts can now be customized and a total of 26 options are available.
  • Additional shortcuts are now available for more spells.
  • Some changes have been made to the delay when using the communication menu in-game. You can perform up to 3 actions in quick succession in the communication menu. However, there is now a delay between subsequent actions (similar to Tracer’s warp ability in-game).

Feature update: patch notes in the game client.

Players can now read about the latest changes for Overwatch within the game. We want to make this information easily accessible to players of all platforms so you can better keep up to date.

  • The “Patchnotes” button in the main menu allows you to view the patch notes in the game client; you no longer need a separate web browser.
  • When a new game update is available, the patch notes are displayed as “New”.

Updates for custom games

  • Existing custom game settings sharing codes can now be re-uploaded with new settings (only by the creator of the code).
  • Developer comment: We have added the option to upload new settings for an existing code (applies only to the creator of the code) when creating codes to share custom game settings. This will hopefully make it easier for creators to update existing game modes, even if they have already shared the code. Note: It is also possible to re-upload codes with new settings that had already expired (as mentioned above, only by the creator of the code). The code will then be valid again.
  • Practice Skirmish can now override which control points are valid on control cards.

General

  • Players now receive an in-game thank you message if their report of cheating resulted in an action.
  • Added transporter buttons in the starting area on control cards that allow players to reset basketballs.
  • Game Highlight: Revised some factors in scoring to emphasize active participation in battles.

  • – Season 3 for competitive deathmatches has begun! Until June 10, 2020, you can rank up and earn rewards in Ranked FFA Deathmatch mode with 8 players.

Seismic Strike

  • Players can now hold down the Ability 2 button to use Seismic Strike when it is available (and, if airborne, usable).
  • When Doomfist lands in close proximity to or on top of enemies, they are pushed a short distance in front of or away from Doomfist, instead of sometimes landing directly next to or behind Doomfist.
  • Seismic Strike no longer has slight acceleration in the air, allowing the landing point to be determined with greater accuracy.

UPDATES FOR THE WORKSHOP

New features for the workshop

  • Strings can now be saved as variables
  • The new evaluation of strings in [Create HUD Text], [Create In-World Text] and [Set Objective Description] can now be forbidden.
  • The events [Player Dealt Knockback] and [Player Received Knockback] have been added
  • Conditions and actions are now displayed with C programming language style syntax. The new syntax is now used when copying to text. Both syntaxes are supported for pasting from text.
  • If a value of a string or custom string ends with zero, it is no longer displayed (and no longer needed when copying from text).
  • The coloring of the syntax for conditions and actions has been adjusted to make them more consistent.
  • Type restrictions have been relaxed. Boolean values (like Compare) are now allowed in places where numbers are expected, and vice versa.
  • The new communication types are now supported by corresponding actions and values.
  • Added night versions of the Workshop Island and Workshop Area maps.

CORRECTED ERRORS

General

  • Fixed a bug where on certain maps, slogans from the opposing team could be heard in the hero selection screen.
  • Fixed a bug where statistics were not being collected or displayed as intended in some Arcade game modes.
  • Custom Games Filter – The “Show only games with room for group” filter has been changed in two ways:
  • The options have been reworded for better clarity: “On” is now “Space in game” and “Incl. queue” is now “Space in lobby”. “Off” remains unchanged.
  • Changed the default filter setting from “Off” to “Place in game” (previously “On”).
  • Fixed a bug where hero-specific settings for player outlines were sometimes not applied as intended.

  • MEKA Base: Fixed a bug that allowed Sombra to teleport to a non-designated location near the destination.
  • City Center: Fixed a bug that allowed Sombra to place her translocator in multiple not intended for it.

Havana

  • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented Genji and Hanzo from climbing walls as intended in several locations near Point A.

  • Fixed a bug where Orisa’s protective barrier would sometimes fall through the floor at a certain location near Point.

Baptiste

  • Fixed a bug where heroes could stand on the life support field generator. -Fixed a bug that caused the Life Support Field cooldown to complete when switching heroes.

Doomfist

  • Fixed a bug where Doomfist’s primary fire mode would not display as intended when affected by a graviton bomb.
  • Fixed a bug where McCree’s uppercut would not elevate him to the intended height when he used his tumble roll.
  • Fixed a bug where Sombra’s Chop would not reset the cooldown on Steam Hammer hits if she used the ability at the same time.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a graphical error to appear when using Seismic Strike in the air at a certain distance.
  • Holding the button for Ability 2 now also triggers the ground version of Seismic Strike when applicable.
  • Fixed a bug where Seismic Strike would sometimes not trigger on slippery surfaces.

D.Va

  • Fixed a bug in Total Chaos where D.Va’s mech hit points were not full when she entered.

Echo

  • Fixed a bug where some effects of duplicated heroes sometimes did not disappear 3 sec after the end of Duplicate.
  • Fixed a bug where the reinforcement matrix of a
    duplicated Baptiste did not boost damage in the 3 sec after the end of Duplicate.
  • Fixed a bug where the visual effects of a duplicated Zarya’s Graviton Bomb would not display after Duplicate ran out.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Echo to display double kills instead of single kills when the damage slider was set to more than 100%.
  • Fixed a bug where kills with duplicated heroes were not counted as kills by duplicate after duplicate expired.
  • Fixed a bug where the effect of hacking on medikits was the wrong color if they were hacked by a duplicated Sombra and Duplicate then expired.
  • Fixed a bug where sticky bombs could sometimes cause damage through shields.
  • Fixed a bug where the wrong spells would play for a duplicated D.Va after using Request Mech.

Genji

  • When Genji reflects a Fire Strike from Reinhardt, it now changes team color from Reinhardt’s perspective.
  • Fixed a bug where Genji was not credited with kills from reflecting Hanzo’s Dragon Strike.

Mei

  • Fixed a bug where enemy ice walls were the wrong color in FFA modes.
  • Fixed bugs with interactions between Mei’s Cryostasis and various abilities.

Mercy

  • Fixed a bug where nameplates would become invisible when the target of Mercy’s beam was affected by Ana’s Biotic Grenade and had a color set for allies in the colorblindness options.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Mercy’s Ultimate to lose charge in custom games with a damage slider below 100%.

Torbjörn

  • Fixed a bug where guns could teleport to non-designated locations in rare cases.

Zarya

  • Fixed a bug where Zarya’s Barrier did not remove the visual effect of Poison Mine on hit Heroes.

Zenyatta

  • Fixed a bug that could cause a pink object to appear at the top of the screen when Zenyatta had the Zen-nakji skin equipped.

Workshop

  • Fixed a bug where values were counted multiple times for the total number of items in a script.

OVERWATCH

Overwatch is a team-based 6vs6 shooter that was released on May 24, 2016. Overwatch stays true to the true style of Blizzard’s previous titles. It was developed by Jeff Kaplan and is considered a “new concept” shooter in the FPS genre. The game was officially unveiled at BlizzCon along with 12 heroes on November 7, 2014.

The story of Overwatch is set on a highly fictionalized future version of Earth. In a time where humans and robots, which are called Omnics, live together (Chris Metzen hinted that the story deals with this very robot race). 30 years before the time when Overwatch takes place, the so-called “Omnic Crisis ” occurred. The robots, once helpers of humans, rebelled against their creators for reasons as yet unknown and triggered a worldwide chaos. Faced with the imminent destruction of human civilization, the best soldiers of all nations came together to form a program called “Overwatch”.

Their job was to protect the world from the Omnics, which they succeeded in doing. For the next 25 years, they were the protectors of the planet, united in an international coalition. Some agents stayed, some were replaced, but at some point something changed: the Overwatch disintegrated. However, 5 years later after this event, incidents with Omnics are again accumulating, a worldwide terrorist organization also seems interested in destabilizing the world order. A new crisis is looming. At this point, your career as an Overwatch agent begins.
