HELDUPDATES
Baptiste
Biotic Thrower
- Healing ammo increased from 10 to 12.
Reinforcement Matrix
- Duration increased from 8 to 10 sec.
Developer comment: Because Baptiste’s weapon has two fire modes, he has to reload it very often. We’re giving him a little more ammo so he can heal longer with his grenades. With the increased duration of Reinforcement Matrix, his allies now have more time to get into position and make the most of it.
D.Va
Defensive Matrix
- The length of the defensive matrix has been reduced from 15 to 10 meters.
Developer comment: Defensive Matrix is a very powerful defensive ability that can sometimes be overwhelming at long range. With the shorter range, D.Va will need to position himself more carefully to use it efficiently in the future.
McCree
Peacemaker
- Reduced the recovery time between primary fire mode shots from 0.5 to 0.42 sec.
Developer comment: On average, McCree’s damage dealt did not quite make up for his comparatively low mobility and versatility. The reduced recovery time between shots allows him to deal more damage. At the same time, he doesn’t need more shots to take out enemies.
Orisa
Protective Barrier
- The barrier can now be set up without interrupting reloads.
Developer comment: Orisa’s weapon had one of the longest reload animations in the game, and it felt too distracting to have to interrupt reloading by placing a barrier. With this change, she can now reload without worry and still protect herself and her team at all times.
Symmetra
Teleporter
- The range for interacting with the teleporter has been increased from 1 to 1.5 meters.
Comment from the developers: “With this change, we mainly want to improve the game experience. Previously, Symmetra could not use created teleporters without running towards them first.
Torbjörn
Bolt Cannon
- The damage per projectile of his secondary fire mode has been reduced from 12.5 to 10.5 (for a total of 105 damage per shot).
Developer comment: The damage of Torbjörn’s secondary fire mode combined with his Overcharge ability was simply too high given his recently increased survivability.
UPDATES FOR GAME MODES
Attack
- On all attack maps, the time awarded for capturing point A has been reduced from 4 to 3 min.
- After losing point A, all eliminated defenders and those who died shortly after will reappear within 3.5 sec. at most.
Developer comment: Matches on attack maps take a bit longer on average than we intended, especially ranked matches with multiple rounds. Also, the attacking team may take point A and point B completely a bit too often. By reducing the time per round from 8 to 7 minutes, we can solve both of these problems, as a shorter duration rewards good defensive performances more.
In addition, some defenders often fight for point A late with good intentions. As a result, they reappear delayed after point A is captured, and their team has a hard time fending off a quick attack on point B. For these situations, we temporarily reduce the revive time so that these players can get back under their team’s arms more quickly and are not penalized for trying to defend point A.

OVERWATCH
Overwatch is a team-based 6vs6 shooter that was released on May 24, 2016. Overwatch stays true to the true style of Blizzard’s previous titles. It was developed by Jeff Kaplan and is considered a “new concept” shooter in the FPS genre. The game was officially unveiled at BlizzCon along with 12 heroes on November 7, 2014.
The story of Overwatch is set on a highly fictionalized future version of Earth. In a time where humans and robots, which are called Omnics, live together (Chris Metzen hinted that the story deals with this very robot race). 30 years before the time when Overwatch takes place, the so-called “Omnic Crisis ” occurred. The robots, once helpers of humans, rebelled against their creators for reasons as yet unknown and triggered a worldwide chaos. Faced with the imminent destruction of human civilization, the best soldiers of all nations came together to form a program called “Overwatch”.
Their job was to protect the world from the Omnics, which they succeeded in doing. For the next 25 years, they were the protectors of the planet, united in an international coalition. Some agents stayed, some were replaced, but at some point something changed: the Overwatch disintegrated. However, 5 years later after this event, incidents with Omnics are again accumulating, a worldwide terrorist organization also seems interested in destabilizing the world order. A new crisis is looming. At this point, your career as an Overwatch agent begins.
