GENERAL UPDATES
Feature update: Improved swear word filter
We’re making some changes to how the swear word filter works to help players better determine what types of words they want to hide. Instead of a simple on/off switch for the swear word filter, you can now choose from three different filter levels.
- FRIENDLY – We do our best to filter out any words that are currently considered obscene, vulgar, or offensive, and are constantly updating this list. This setting is best suited for families.
- ADULT – You might see obscene or vulgar words, but this setting filters speech that has been classified as extremely offensive.
- UNFILTERED – Nothing is filtered. You may see extremely offensive messages. This setting is not recommended.
In addition to the three new filter levels, players can now use different swear word filter settings for each communication channel. These channels include:
- GENERAL CHAT
- MATCH-CHAT
- TEAMCHAT
- GROUP CHAT
- WHISPER MESSAGES
For example, you could use the stricter FRIENDLY filter option for more public channels like GENERAL CHAT or MATCH CHAT, but select the ADULT option for the more private GROUP CHAT.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The profanity filter is not permission for players to use offensive language. Please use the report feature if you see such messages.
See Blizzard Entertainment’s Game Behavior Policy for more information on acceptable behavior. If your messages are reported by the community and deemed offensive by Blizzard, you will be subject to severe account penalties.
Feature Update: Elevator Adjustments
Elevators now wait at the bottom until a player enters the platform. After a short delay, the platform moves up quickly. Once the elevator reaches its destination, it stops briefly before moving back down.
We’ve received lots of feedback that the elevators on Hollywood and Volskaya Industries are too unreliable because they keep moving. To improve this, we’ve redesigned the elevators on both maps so that they now work as described above. We hope that elevators can be used faster and more reliably after this change. When an elevator is in use, players nearby will be alerted to it with updated sound effects.

OVERWATCH
Overwatch is a team-based 6vs6 shooter that was released on May 24, 2016. Overwatch stays true to the true style of Blizzard’s previous titles. It was developed by Jeff Kaplan and is considered a “new concept” shooter in the FPS genre. The game was officially unveiled at BlizzCon along with 12 heroes on November 7, 2014.
The story of Overwatch is set on a highly fictionalized future version of Earth. In a time where humans and robots, which are called Omnics, live together (Chris Metzen hinted that the story deals with this very robot race). 30 years before the time when Overwatch takes place, the so-called “Omnic Crisis ” occurred. The robots, once helpers of humans, rebelled against their creators for reasons as yet unknown and triggered a worldwide chaos. Faced with the imminent destruction of human civilization, the best soldiers of all nations came together to form a program called “Overwatch”.
Their job was to protect the world from the Omnics, which they succeeded in doing. For the next 25 years, they were the protectors of the planet, united in an international coalition. Some agents stayed, some were replaced, but at some point something changed: the Overwatch disintegrated. However, 5 years later after this event, incidents with Omnics are again accumulating, a worldwide terrorist organization also seems interested in destabilizing the world order. A new crisis is looming. At this point, your career as an Overwatch agent begins.
