ARCHIVE 2020

Experience story-driven co-op missions that take you back to key moments in Overwatch history. For the duration of the event, you can earn Archive Lootboxes that include skins, highlight intros, emotes, and sprays from Overwatch’s past. Also, for the time this year, weekly challenge missions will put your tactical to the test. Challenge missions will feature new gameplay changes to Uprising, Retribution, and Storm Sign.

GENERAL UPDATES

New feature: Share replays

Players can now share their in-game replays with others!

A replay is shared via an alphanumeric code, usually 6 characters long. You can share the code wherever you want: in-game, on forums, or via social media. Other players can enter this code and view your replay. The codes are valid until the next patch.

Also, some improvements have been made to the replay system:

  • You can now pin up to 10 replays to keep them until the next patch. You can unpin them again to make room for another replay. Your last 10 imported replay codes will be saved so you can re-watch imported replays without having to re-enter the code. With the new comment field, you can add comments or a description to each replay.

General

  • In-game friend requests are now only displayed once per session.
  • Real ID friend requests will only display the Real ID name in-game if you have recently played with that player.
  • At the start of matches in Attack, Hybrid, Control, and Cargo modes, you now only have 30 seconds to select a hero (down from 35 seconds).
  • In a match in Attack, Escort, or Hybrid modes, if both teams complete their turn as the attacker with over 2 minutes remaining, both teams’ time reserve will be reduced until one team has only 2 minutes remaining.
  • Example: If Team A completes its attack on Volskaya with 4:37 remaining time and Team B completes its attack with 2:50 remaining time, both teams’ time reserve is reduced by 50 seconds. Thus, the intermediate score is 2:2 with a time reserve of 3:47 for Team A and 2:00 for Team B.

CORRECTED ERRORS

General

  • Fixed a bug where the “NEW!” marker in the player icons menu did not disappear after viewing the new icons.
  • Fixed a bug that caused 100% to be displayed at the end of a control map for both teams.
  • Fixed a bug where notifications for friend requests were permanently displayed on the screen when more than one request was received at the same time.
  • Fixed a bug where the sounds of some ultimate abilities were not playing for spectators in the chase perspective.
  • Fixed a bug where replays were not recorded as intended in custom games that started immediately.
  • Fixed a bug where hero portraits were displayed blurry/low resolution in the hero selector.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented enemies from walking over heroes that had been put to sleep or knocked to the ground.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause servers to crash.
  • Fixed a bug where AI bots could get stuck in the area and game modes of the Overwatch Archive.

  • Fixed a bug where Orisa’s superbooster would not be destroyed along with the floor as intended when placed on Petra’s destructible floor.

Reinhardt

  • Fixed a bug where eliminations or kills by the environment were not counted for Reinhardt’s “Kills with Rush” stat if the killed player was pushed back by Reinhardt’s rush first.

Sigma

  • Fixed a bug where Sigma’s gravity flow would play even though he was put to sleep or stunned.

Sombra

  • Fixed a bug where Sombra’s translocator was not destroyed with the ground as intended when placed on Petra’s destructible ground.

Zarya

  • Fixed a bug where Zarya’s Projected Barrier could prevent two Heroes from knocking each other to the ground with a rush.

Workshop

  • Fixed a bug where [Player Joined Match] was triggered multiple times when a player joined a match.
  • Fixed a bug where [Set Team Score] and [Modify Team Score] did not work in Attack, Hybrid, and Escort game modes.
  • Fixed a bug where the editor would swallow the last character of a copied Unicode string.
  • Fixed a bug where [Is Firing Primary] did not return True when Doomfist fired his last shot.
  • Fixed a bug where [Disallow Button] did not disable Reaper’s Shadow Step as intended.
  • Renamed the [Spectators] option to [Non-Team Spectators] in the [Create HUD Text] and [Create In-World Text] actions for clarity.

OVERWATCH

Overwatch is a team-based 6vs6 shooter that was released on May 24, 2016. Overwatch stays true to the true style of Blizzard’s previous titles. It was developed by Jeff Kaplan and is considered a “new concept” shooter in the FPS genre. The game was officially unveiled at BlizzCon along with 12 heroes on November 7, 2014.

The story of Overwatch is set on a highly fictionalized future version of Earth. In a time where humans and robots, which are called Omnics, live together (Chris Metzen hinted that the story deals with this very robot race). 30 years before the time when Overwatch takes place, the so-called “Omnic Crisis ” occurred. The robots, once helpers of humans, rebelled against their creators for reasons as yet unknown and triggered a worldwide chaos. Faced with the imminent destruction of human civilization, the best soldiers of all nations came together to form a program called “Overwatch”.

Their job was to protect the world from the Omnics, which they succeeded in doing. For the next 25 years, they were the protectors of the planet, united in an international coalition. Some agents stayed, some were replaced, but at some point something changed: the Overwatch disintegrated. However, 5 years later after this event, incidents with Omnics are again accumulating, a worldwide terrorist organization also seems interested in destabilizing the world order. A new crisis is looming. At this point, your career as an Overwatch agent begins.
