Overwatch: Hollywood

The Hollywood map starts in the Points Conquest game mode, before the cargo transport starts. The attackers have to fight their way through different parts of the film studio in the game. It’s not just the visuals that differ – after all, the game takes you through the Wild West and past alien spaceships – but also the feel of the game. While heroes with a long range still dominate in the first part, melee fighters are in demand later on.

Overwatch: Hollywood – First Conquest Point

Hollywood: Point 1 – Through there?
Right at the beginning of the map, a bottleneck awaits the attackers. All heroes must pass through the gate or the adjacent room. Well-positioned defenders make both areas a death zone. If you don’t act in a coordinated way here, you won’t even get to the first conquest point.

Hollywood: Point 2 – Danger from the balcony
Defenders like to position themselves at the top of the balcony. The elevated position offers some advantages, especially for heroes like Junkrat or Torbjörn, who can fire downwards without being targeted by the attackers themselves.

Hollywood: Point 3 – In a confined space
If you don’t want to go through the archway, you’ll have to fight your way through the tight control room. This is where there is massive action at the start of every game. Normally, the defenders try to secure this path as best as possible with traps and self-fire systems, but this is not enough against concentrated attacking heroes. Therefore, the melee fighters usually gather here and bash their heads in. As an attacker, be careful not to get too close to the door in the melee, as the defenders like to aim their weapons there.

Hollywood: Point 4 – Elegant flanking
If you make it through the archway, you have the option of running along behind the house to stab the defenders in the back. Fire a few volleys and retreat as soon as you are noticed. There is a medipack waiting for you in the house.

Hollywood: Point 5 – Good prospects

Directly behind the first conquest point, the heroes can take an elevator to an observation deck below the water tower. From there you have a very good overview of the action on the first part of the map. This position is especially useful for heroes with good aim. On the other hand, you will be on a silver platter for the enemy. As soon as the enemy notices you and takes fire at you for the first time, you should change your position accordingly. Otherwise you’ll quickly be lying in the mud.

Hollywood: Point 6 – The last defense

If the attackers manage to break through and plant their feet on the conquest point, then carnage usually breaks out right on the point. The attacking heroes gather right at the vehicle, while the defenders open fire from all sides. It’s good to know that there’s a medipack waiting for you in the building right next to the point. You should always make use of it. Even if your team doesn’t need healing: grab it so that the enemy team can’t benefit from it.

As a defender, you can use the wall to attack and retreat right back. This way you can heal up and give the opponent a good run for his money or even lure him away from the point. It’s not uncommon for the attackers to give chase and forget in the commotion that they’re not allowed to leave the point to take it.

Overwatch: Hollywood – The Western City

Hollywood: Point 7 – Behind the salon

The path behind the saloon lends itself to attackers and defenders alike to stab the enemy in the back. Therefore, for the attacking team, one of the sticking points is when the vehicle is in front of the saloon. This is because during that time the team has to expect attacks from both sides, which makes protecting the cargo much more difficult. To make matters worse, the heroes can also get onto the roof, which makes the possible attack positions even more numerous. Here, the attackers must work well together and possibly switch heroes briefly. With an additional tank or supporter, the spot becomes much easier.

Hollywood: Point 8- Behind the prison

Almost the same applies to the prison as to the saloon, except that the path behind the building is a bit shorter. Due to the fact that you can not only walk behind the building, but also directly through it, this flank is especially interesting for good melee fighters like McCree or Reaper. There is also a medipack waiting in the building, which might be the deciding factor in a hot hero vs. hero duel. After all, not all heroes can get onto the roof here, since there is no direct access. Nevertheless, you always have to expect that a mobile hero will shoot down at you from above.

Hollywood: Point 9 – Above, below or in the middle?

At the back of the General Store, you can get to all three floors. By elevator to the top or by stairs to the middle. In addition, many heroes always meet on this large flank. A carnage almost like on the main path.

Hollywood: Point 10 – Territory for melee fighters

Directly in the General Store, the melee fighters like to hide to fall into the side of the attackers when they come by with the cargo. Fast melee fighters are the absolute kings here. After a few shots, they retreat through the tight spaces, tend to their wounds and launch another attack. Here, the attacking team must be especially vigilant. Optimally, the attackers themselves have a deadly melee fighter who cleans up behind the store and doesn’t let any of the defenders’ heroes flank the team in the first place. Otherwise, the narrow spaces can be secured with traps or self-shooting systems.

Hollywood: Points 11 and 12 – Sniper’s death zone

The long way through the sets from the Wild West is mostly dominated by snipers, who hide either on the roof of the saloon or behind the straw bales. If the attackers want to get through here unharmed, they need either a tank to protect them or other good ranged fighters to smoke out the snipers. Heroes like Pharah or Junkrat are well suited. They can fire at the snipers from a safe position.

Hollywood: Crossfire on the defenders

At the finishing point, the defenders usually build up another real bulwark, since their path from the starting point is extremely short. Therefore, the attackers absolutely have to distribute their forces. While most of them take the path through the center, some unerring heroes should attack via the balcony.

Hollywood: Last defense

In the last meters, there is no more great tactics for the defenders. The opponent must be knocked down as quickly as possible. For this, many players switch to defensive heroes like Bastion or Widowmaker on the last meters to make the last corridor an absolute death zone. The pillars offer some protection from the attackers, so the defenders can always retreat to tend to their own wounds and regroup.

In Overwatch, heroes fight in a variety of locations around the world. From the technological wonder Numbani to the production center Volskaya, each map has its own layout and very specific conditions that your team must fulfill in order to win.

The battles of the heroes of Overwatch will be fought on the various maps. At the same time, the locations differ not only because of their scenery, but also their modes.

If you want to play successfully in Overwatch, you need to know not only the heroes, but also their surroundings. After all, the different maps offer a variety of flanks to stab the enemy team in the back, in addition to the main path. However, not all of them are suitable for everyone. We’ll also show you the most popular places for snipers and where turrets like to hide. Knowing the position of the medipacks is also a big advantage in the battle. We will show you all this in our detailed map guides. For a better overview, we have divided the maps into the three game modes.
