Sojourn is the 33rd hero of Overwatch and, according to Blizzard developers, offers a unique gameplay experience along with incredible abilities that give her great mobility and mid-range firepower. Lead Hero Designer Geoff Goodman and Narrative Designer Miranda Moyer introduce the new heroine from Overwatch 2 in this installment of the Developer Update video series. Railgun

The railgun’s primary fire mode is a lightning-fast projectile that generates energy on impact. This energy charges the secondary fire mode, a devastating shot that uses up the stored energy. Sojourn doesn’t exactly play easy – the more accurate your aim with her railgun, the more efficient you’ll be, too. Only those who practice a lot will be able to use the concentrated power of the secondary fire mode.

Disruption Shot

Disruption Shot is a ranged ability that slows enemies and reduces their hit points. Sojourn can thus increase the efficiency of her railgun. Early prototypes of this ability did high damage to barriers, but ultimately we decided to design the ability to complement the secondary fire mode.

Powerslide

Sojourn’s Powerslide gives her remarkable mobility. The rocket-powered ability can be canceled at any time with a high jump into the air. If you use it properly, you can reposition yourself as Sojourn in an instant. Sojourn chose to use her cybernetic modifications to fight as efficiently as possible, in stark contrast to Genji, who had his body forced upon him. The cybernetic prosthetics and abilities are a means to an end, but ultimately the only thing that matters to Sojourn is the goal.
