Since the announcement of Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon 2019, a lot has happened. Most recently, the release was set for 2022, but it quickly became clear that nothing will come of it. After various postponements and Plan changes the hero shooter will now be released earlier than planned, but without the PvE mode consisting of story and hero missions. There is currently no exact release date. However, already now Details of the new heroine announced and already next week starts the first closed beta. Resourceful dataminers have been able to find out the first details about it.
What are the findings of the dataminers?
The Dataminer Helba was able to find out first details about the PvP beta, which will start on April 26 is supposed to launch for PC gamers. So there are probably allusions to a Battle Pass and also information about a progression system, hero shards, role shards, mission progression and hero progression. It’s unknown what the shards are good for, but it’s conceivable that players may have to unlock the heroes in the campaign first in order to play them. That’s pure speculation, though. Additionally, Helba was able to extract the title screen.
As always, it must be mentioned that such leaks are with caution are to be taken with a grain of salt. These could be old versions or features that are not found in the beta or the final version of the game.
Who can all participate in the closed beta of Overwatch 2?
The first closed beta begins on April 26 and every participant will first need a version of Overwatch 1 in their library. Console players will also have to be patient, as they will not be able to participate in the first beta phase. Registration is currently possible via the official site of Activision Blizzard.
The confirmed contents of the closed beta are also known. All games will be available in the 5-against-5 format will be played out and a new push mode will be available.
